JpSawyer mod hardcore enough?

Okay first post so be kind :D

 

First time modding and i want to make the game significantly harder, the ideas Im having are, no fast travel, much darker nights forcing me to sleep or use flares, perhaps jpsawyer mod? Nvec mod? do they play well together?

 

I want to get stuck at various locations struggle and win through!

I've never used JSayers mod, as it conflicts with Project Nevada, but it looks really solid. I actually wish I could use both, but alas not. Project Nevada with the rebalance module is pretty good, and is fully customizable via MCM menu.

 

As for darker nights, you'll need a weather mod for that, Nevada Skies and Project Reality are the most popular.

 

And, while they're not exactly rebalance mods, Someguy2000 has a number of excellent quest mods which feature a number of difficult encounters, many of which have a taunt dialog option to further increase difficulty. They're also well written and polished, great experiences overall.

Agreed with Stormbringer13, Project Nevada with the rebalance module has a lot of nice customizable difficulty for New Vegas. Chop down your carry weight, increase the hardcore needs substantially, and health is lower as default, making combat quite a bit more challenging. I've used NVEC Complete with Jsawyer as a built in part of it before I was using PN, I didn't care for some of the changes and inclusions in NVEC personally, (but that doesn't make it a bad mod at all) more personal preference there. Some of the Jsawyer inclusions where quite good, most of the armors where revamped a bit in DT + DR and changed weights specifically. I liked that, other things I didnt like. So your mileage may vary. Try them and see how you like them.

 

As far as weather mods, cant go wrong with Nevada Skies (im partial to 0.6.3 myself) and for added creepiness add the interior lighting overhaul for indoor lighting, because then flashlights, nightvision, flares or other portable light sources are a must. Bunch of good choices on the nexus for those needs.
