Greatest game series of the decade?

Dark Souls is better than both though it pulls a lot of cheap s#*! and the PvP is extremely laggy due it's lack of dedicated servers and it's lack of Ping filtering.

My choice is Metal Gear Solid.

 

That game revolutionized public perception of the media itself.

After that, videogames weren't for kids anymore.

 

And probably the most awesome and complex story writing aswell.

Never understood the GTA hype (though I never modded it). Guilty by association, maybe. Too many d-bags and bro-dudes playing it. Also it is not an EPIC game...it's not an emotional experience. It doesn't inspire you. Basically, a quasi-open world with mildly interesting stories in a very familiar setting.

 

Objectively, there is no contest between these two. One is epic art, the other is fun for the teenager on PS Vita.

GTA might not be as great of an emotional ride as other games, but it's farcry to claim it lacked any emotional experience. Niko and his brother had a variety of emotive displays and they often had to resolve inner conflicts. Niko grappled with his past and his brother with rebuilding his life in the States. Many other characters were often two-bit douche bags, but that was more of a reflection on their slightly less exagerated real-life counterparts. The real world is full of two-bit people, topped off and salted with a few very interesting people.

Voted for GTA, the last good TES game was Morrowind and that was released over ten years ago.

i dont think its a fair vote, two different games set in two different worlds. as far as my gaming experience has been ive played more gta then any elder scrolls game, but i have had some amazing experiences in skyrim and oblivion. if i had to chose i would chose elder scrolls, because of my fond memorys of those games. but battle field would be the closest thing to a 2ed place it could ever get. using a tank to drive through a bilding is... amazing...

Voted for TES although I like GTA well enough to preorder GTAV. Toughest vote was during the previous bracket being the final four where they had TES vs Fallout which are my two favorites. I voted TES and am still feeling guilty.
