ADragonCalledGeorge
Ages ago, my younger brother was playing Runescape and I got the idea for an alternate death mod not like the ones out there already. Basically it copies the Runescape style where you appear before Death and get sent to a spawn point. However, to put it Skyrim-style, when you die you appear in Sovrenguard in front of the guardian. He asks you if you want to return or stay in the land of the dead. If you return, you go back to the Hall of the Dead that is closest to your point of death. You wake up in a coffin (similar to the Dark Brotherhood quest) and can get out. You then find that all your gear is stored in the coffin as if someone buried you and put your stuff there to respect you or something. You are the Dragon Born so you can have the power to decide if you want to live or die, especially since you have or will defeat Alduin and save the world, etc. However, if you choose to remain dead then you will stay in Sovrenguard and have a short sequence where you can feast in the hall with the other heroes. After that the screen fades to black and you have to start a new game. Personally I think this would be really cool and is the only type of alternate death mod I would use. I don't want to do a mini-quest to get my stuff back but I do want to die and resurrect in a way that doesn't feel like cheating by traveling back in time via a loading screen since loading screens are basically time travel. It would also get to finish the game in a way that feels epic and awesome not just with the lame death animation and time travel. So if anyone is interested in making this into a mod and realizing this dream since I can't mod to save my life, I would use it in a heartbeat! Many thanks in advance and I hope to see something like this in the near future!! :)
ADragonCalledGeorge
P.S. The catch is that this goes without saying that if you were on a quest and died you will have to leave the Hall of the Dead you spawn in (and the city in some cases) and find your way back to the quest location. That I wouldn't mind doing. You could even have an option to haunt your enemies (an NPC you hate) by returning to Skyrim as a ghost and haunting their house. The NPC you want revenge on would then slowly go insane using the fleeing animation and the cowering animation. You could also return as a form of undead like a draugr or vampire and wake up in a Nordic ruin or something. Just some crazy ideas I have to spice things up! :)
ADragonCalledGeorge
P.P.S. If you are a ghost you can be able to float through wall using the "tlc" command. However, since you are technically dead, you won't be able to interact with objects and crafting stations in the game. Also, only young children and those who believe in ghosts (e.g. wizards etc) will be able to have conversations with you although most will want you to leave them alone. Some will even force you to leave as if trespassing. To make it even harder, you will not be able to leave the house until you have driven its residents insane granting you access to other areas you can haunt. After haunting a certain amount of places and people you can get resurrected and reclaim your gear somewhere. Also, you could use the haunted house animations from the House of Horrors Quest.
