Who Messed up the Tiber Septim Hotel?

Today I visited the Tiber Septim Hotel and there were three high level dremora and a brown bear in the lobby. It took all the guards in Talos Plaza to subdue the intruders. Several civilians were killed. I was almost killed because I was in my dress clothes instead of my armor. I do not like the luxury hotel to be this way.

I only have 18 mods currently installed. None of the witnesses will talk about this strange attack, and no new quests have opened because of it. I can't figure out which mod is doing this. I doubt it is part of the vanilla game. I have not determined yet if these creatures will re-spawn. I will have to check it out.

Has anyone else ever encountered this situation?

Quoted from the UESP Wiki:

The Tiber Septim Hotel lobby's cell is the game's "safe zone" to prevent crashes/bugs if a creature, NPC, or even the player is in a cell added by a mod and the mod is removed. Any actors whose cell has disappeared will be placed in the hotel's lobby.

This can also happen with the vanilla game eg flocks of deer suddenly in the lobby for no apparent reason. Sometimes, if you use any overhaul mods or any that add creatures and actors to the leveled lists you may get this happening. It's a safeguard and if you're there at the time you'll know a crash has been prevented.

Most of the time you'll never even know about it. Unless you stay forever in the Hotel..... ;D

It's unlikely changing your mods or their load order will make any difference. If you have a save from just before the "incident" reload it and chances are everything will spawn correctly.

I once deleted a trophy room I was working on with at least 20 mannequins in it. All 20 appeared in the hotel, walking around and talking. It was sort of crowded there. It is possible that a mod you disabled or deleted had something in it from somewhere else when it was deleted.

Usually the next time (3 game days if you stay away) it respawns the extras will vanish.

Heh. I had a whole herd of sheep in there and couldn't figure out why until I found out about that safe zone thing (I had been fiddling around with mods).

It is an odd place to use as a dump for forcibly retired actors..

"I do not like the luxury hotel to be this way."

And who could blame you :)

When I read the topic title and sub-header, I thought it was one of those "three men walked into a bar" kind of jokes. Turns out it was something completely different.

I guess Bethsoft thought it would be a good idea to pick a place where they thought very few players would ever frequent, and transfer unused mod NPCs and enemies there for imminent removal. Now that's called thinking ahead!

It is quest related though so it makes you wonder.

Just wait until you meet a Frost Minotaur from OOO in there.. Then you'll know fear!! It happened to me once in one of the earlier version of OOO, probably around the time they were first added to it.

Ooh. I'm glad I weren't you. That had to be a painful battle.

Nope. I ran and left them to it. Then reloaded. There wasn't room in there for all of us so i thought I'd quietly leave.
