Some mods not loading in game

why are you redownloading? just use the local copies of the mods you've got stored away?

are you 100% certain that you are not hitting the plugin limit?

you've mentioned several issues in this thread - i'm just wondering why mods are not being loaded, when you've got them enabled. the only thing i can think of is that you've hit the plugin limit and those mods are not loaded because of that.

 

what happens if you remove all your mods (do not format your disk, reinstall windows, buy a new copy of the game and redownload the entire contents of the internet, just purge the mods). then add those audio mods first up then start a new game?

I thought the plugin limit was 254 ESM/ESP... but I could be misunderstanding that. I've had almost this exact mod list working before so that hadn't occurred to me but it's definitely worth considering so... I'll give that a shot. I've never purged my mods before either so it'll take me a bit to research that before I try it. As far as re-downloading, I went that route thinking that it was possible some of the files in my storage drive might have somehow become corrupted.

 

Anyway, I just wanted to mention that I really appreciate you (and everyone else here) taking the time to help me out with this. I've become mildly obsessed with getting this right. I'll comment a bit later today when I've fully figured out this purge thing.

purge takes about 2 seconds to figure out - select all your mods - hit purge - they are removed from your game folders.

vortex then knows that you removed them, and you can then look at the contents of your data folder and ensure its clean.

 

files being corrupted on your local system - you attempt to install them via vortex - if it installs - the file isnt corrupted.

also if you suspect file corruption - run a health check on your disk. redownloading stuff is unnecessary if your local copy is fine.

So I did the purge and the data folder only had the basic game files which I assume is as it should be. I then disabled everything except USSEP, Address Library, FNIS, Engine Fixes and the Main Menu Theme replacer and... it worked! I was hearing that beautiful Jeremy So... whatever his name is... music. I'm going to start re-enabling the mods a few at a time to see where it starts to crap out. Does this mean I am in fact over the limit?

i would look at your plugins - closely - and, if you're approaching the limit - see if vortex can mark a few of them light, which will allow you to stay under the limit.

be a bit careful with the whole mark light - some mods, even if they can be marked light shouldn't be - its trial and error - do it to one, restart the game - see how you go...repeat to fade.

Awesome... thanks! I'm going to start with meshes/textures that have plugins and go from there. Just combing over my LO to see what I can live without. I'll post a reply in the next day or two just to let you know how it went.

Just an update... I jettisoned 13 mods... was sad to see Sofia go but really, it was 4 EPS's and also tossed NFF as I really only use it to keep Serana and Mirabelle with me simultaneously. I deleted the music from the main menu and now my modded music is playing... still not getting sound from ISC or Phoenix Compendium but... I'm just going to call that a loss. I'm now standing on 154 ESM/ESP's and although it's early days, about 5 hours in, I've recruited Serana, have Avhienda and Eilowyn with me and am relaxing in Winterberry Chateau. Not perfect but I'll take it.
