zewtastic
I have been trying for ages to figure out if it's possible to apply a Bodyslide body preset to a single NPC/companion via the BS GUI? Or at all? Or would I have to mess with actually discrete files in directories? Or is it even possible at all? I typically use MO2 for everything. anjenthedog
yes-ish Afaik you can define a mesh preset for NPCs (and followers) who have dedicated resource paths, although I haven't tried to directly link them, so I "build" to a dummy staging folder before manually transferring the associated mesh files (and any tri files generated...not sure if fallout uses those though so take that one with a grain of salt, I'm on Skyrim SE) to their respective mesh folder. I modified one or two NPCs as well as all several of my followers that way. Unless you're simply looking to replace them, you will need to use the right template and get it to a close approximation of the NPC first, which, without a provided template (preset) can be difficult to accomplish for some easy for other, using various snapshots of the original for matching purposes in BodySlide. Personally, I've found it easier in general for minor tweaks just to use racemenu, (I've tweaked dozens and dozens of NPCs using racemenu), but I have created Bodyslide presets (and meshes) to swap body type for the noted NPC/Followers from their original to a more favored (either CBBE-3BBB or BHUNP, from CBBE/UNP type sources) Anyway, so find the character's mesh folder (off /Data/meshes/) create a dummy subfolder off the character's mesh folder. I usually call it something like "(whoever I'm working on) new (bodytype) body meshes" Create a second subfolder called ("original meshes") Copy the current contents of the NPC's mesh folder into it (edit: the subfolder created in step 3) open Bodyslide find an appropriate template preset that results in something close enough to the original (or not as the case may be) then tweak in Bodyslide to produce whatever it is you want Save As your new Bodyslide name ex: "sayah naked body" make sure to check all the associated mods in the provided checkbox list (fyi I usually create a naked, a clothed heavy and a clothed light variant, fwiw) open settings open advanced controls set the output folder to the location of your dummy folder from step #2 close settings check the build morphs checkbox if racemenu applies in your game (again I'm an interloper from SE, so not entirely sure you guys use racemenu). as you may nor not know build morphs generates tri files needed for racemmenu. Build body then build hands and feet once done, open settings and clear the entry in advanced >> output folder, so to reset the output path back to its default (player mesh folder)For now, let's skip fitting clothes. You can probably figure all that on your own anyway (hint: at least for me, I dedicate a few outfits to my custom followers, and they're fit to, and used by the intended wearer alone, so fitting their customized clothing/armor is as simple as fitting to their preset and building, since it'll be pulled out of the shared inventory system upon assignment by the player anyway (unless you start fiddling with SSEEdit or CK, which I want to avoid for simplicity's sake in my own world). 18. So, now you have your new meshes, then the last thing is depositing them in place of your original mesh info for the NPC. easy enough. Either move or copy the files from your dummy folder into your character's mesh folder, overwriting the original files Now you have copies of both the new and old meshes (in case you find something amiss and want to backtrack)
anjenthedog
Oh...PS. You'll need to make sure you have textures suitable for use with the body type. Again, As a Skyrim player only, I'm personally blind to Fallout particulars, but we use CBBE and UNP based bodies in Skyrim that require different textures for their corresponding body type. Sephrajin
If you have specific clothing/armor mods for specific NPC/companions, it is very easy. 1. Make body2. Batch build - but only on those selected mod-items3. ??4. Profit Even works with vanilla items that cover the full body, but can give weird effects as soon they are combined with armor.Furthermore, you would need to take care to de-select those upon any follow up batch build. Best effect would be for things like kellogs armor, mechanist outfit, and simliar unique vanilla (incl dlc) items (compared to mods).
