squarezero
So I was an idiot and accidentally uninstalled the game via steam while trying to uninstall the game below it. I use Vortex for modding and have 200+ mods installed. I immediately re-downloaded the game on steam and upon initial inspection outside of vortex warning me files had been changed outside of vortex everything "appears" to be okay with my saves, but is it? Are there any types of mods I need to do anything about/re-install or things I need to watch out for? F4SE seems to be okay, ZAX skeleton "seems" to be working, AAF I think working etc. So does anyone know if I'm good, do I need to fix anything, or did I just shoot myself in the foot? Anyone who knows or has experience with this, your comments and suggestions would be helpful. Thank you!
StormWolf01
Hiya Squarezero. Ok, so here is where you got lucky, that you are using Vortex. Vortex doesn't actually install most mods directly to the game directory. It installs them to folders that it creates itself. So, "most" of your mods should be ok. But it kinda depends. Like looksmenu presets and bodyslide files can still be in your game directory, and those can be deleted. My biggest recommendation, is in my signature. If you don't have one, get yourself an external USB hard drive. 500 gigs is good, and relatively cheap. Make backups of your game folders. Your actual Fallout 4 game folder, your Documents/MyGames/Fallout4, and your plugins.txt file. (this is the record of what mods are active, and what load order they are in. Located at C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Fallout4\Plugins.txt Username being whatever the name is, that shows on the screen when you put your password into the computer when it starts up.
