Pickysaurus
Looks like you have a bad connection to the default server for your location (LA). You should change your preference to CDN for best performance. It seems like there may be some kind of bottleneck between your PC and our older servers (possibly an ISP/routing issue), but the "CDN" option will connect you to the Premium-only servers. Omniguous
my preference is already on CDN. it has been for ages. i did recently try changing it to chicago. chicago is MUCH MUCH closer than Los Angeles. and ive already since changed it back (before running these tests or downloading the latest mod that gave me a headache.) and even while on chicago, it didnt help. Pickysaurus
Sorry, you're right, I read "CA" as California rather than Canada. If you're still having problems, it might be worth trying a VPN? We are aware of some ISPs doing what is called "Packet shaping" which ends up degrading your download speed, so there may be some of that going on. Omniguous
as far as i can tell: this is not an issue in canada, or with my ISP. they do not do any traffic shaping. or throttling. Bandwidth throttling - Wikipedia scroll down to the "canada" section.
Omniguous
picky? why is the test file for the CDN smaller than 500 MiB?https://imgur.com/a/qHG4mB1 according to your own help page, for a premium user, if smaller than 500 MiB, it will be treated differently. Pickysaurus
picky? why is the test file for the CDN smaller than 500 MiB? https://imgur.com/a/qHG4mB1 according to your own help page, for a premium user, if smaller than 500 MiB, it will be treated differently. The test file uses a URL direct to the CDN. The help page is referring to the logic for mod downloads from the site. When you download a mod it routes you to the file based on your membership status. Omniguous
you want to simply fallback on "it's the ISP" except my ISP doesnt do this for any site. ive discussed this with other users in various places and they all have told me your downloads have become slower. you admit you have "older" servers. make them "newer", then. Pickysaurus
They're older in the sense that they were set up first. While I understand your frustration there's not much we can do if it's an ISP fault or simply bad routing. You could try using a VPN as I suggested earlier?
