Possible to create custom Base Effect Projectile type?

Other than this page https://cs.elderscrolls.com/index.php?title=Magic_Effects

You might find some info in other areas discussing Oblivion Creation Kit ?

But I suspect the inner workings for that are not present in the GECK and game engine for Fo3 / FNV since they never use that portion of the base effect window.

But you can use a custom weapon with a custom projectile .

And call it in a script with this function https://geckwiki.com/index.php/FireWeapon

Thanks for the reply!

I'll start looking around into some of the magic stuffs (too bad its not that simple to create a new nif shape and add an entry).

To give some further context, I'm contemplating another way to handle the pipboy light. The flashlight nvse mod hits performance a little much to my liking and wondering if its possible to shape light or magical effects - so instead of a ball around the self cast of the player, maybe more of a wedge shape?

Hmmm ... if it's flashlight functionality you are looking for ? I don't think a magic effect is going to illuminate the surroundings for better vision. I think it will obscure and cover it up ? Although in very dark situations ... should help out somewhat ?

IDK really ? Just my impression with rookie experience of this engine.

Would be cool for those dark tunnels and Feral Ghouls coming at you to send a light down it ... like a much more illuminated plasma burst ???

A short range cone ... not sure what is possible ... but would suggest messing with the shot gun , its spread , number of projectiles. Shorten it's range and slow it down ... Alot !

Also the mesmetron projectile might be good to look at too

Add edit: To clarify ... use the shot gun weapon , or make one that is similar (number of projectiles) and remember you can turn off the damage there.

But the projectile it uses can be some of the ones that produce light. And on the projectile window , you can adjust its range and speed.

Also incase wasn't clear , try adding the mesmetron projectile to the shotgun ... or turn the mesmetron into a shotgun ...

So then final thing to reiterate incase it wasn't clear ... the player or any actor ... does not need to actually have that custom weapon to use that script call.

If they have no weapon ... it will fire the projectile from their center , as if they were casting. And my suggestion would be to have it work from equipping a custom mele weapon like brass knuckles/gloves ???

Hope that helps : )
