Maedhros
I have examined the music files in Morrowind, and they are all mp3's. Would I be able to copy mp3's from my music collection and drop them into the appropriate folders? Or is there a file size restriction?
NinjaSalad
I beleave the music loops, and the music changes when your being attacked, so I bet if you could work through that you could do it.
Adras
I think they work as long as they are MP3's
Crim, The Red Thunder
I can give a bit more info, but also give several questions i havent answered yet. (Even AFTER much experimentation.) Morrowind will (through the streammusic command in the console) pick up the following filetypes (so far... ive got some WMA's to try...) .mp3 (of course).wav .mid (with a restriction. see below) As for placing music in morrowind, put your mp3 and (I *BELIEVE*) .wav files in the appropriate folders. IF you are a modder, drop one in the specil folder, and you can link it to a script to play at will. If you want the music to be played during battle, the battle folder is used. If you want it while you are walking around, the explore folder is used. That is all you have to do for .mp3's. I heard that .cda will play in there, assuming you make an extra step, probably a line in the morrowind.ini, but the person who told me this moved to oklahoma. So i can't confirm. Ditto for .mid and most other filetypes. If you want to play music of any type, with the 'streammusic' command, the full command is as follows. streammusic "filename.extension" The quotes ARE required, even for a 1-word filename. The extension IS required. Furthermore, to play the music like this, it cannot be in the explore, battle, or special folders. Instead it should be in the music folder, outside of all 3. (To the best of my knowledge) I hope this gives a bit more info, if not i can get rid of it. All this information is based on the best of my ability to test. Furthermore, alternate sound drivers (like enhanced midi-to-wav drivers such as wingroove direct) will pick up through morrowind on the appropriate filetype. This means your music plays like a dream, even in MW, and i notice speed improvements with lower file sizes then those of mp3s and wavs, but that is probably my crappy processor. You can also get rid of the original morrowind music entirely if you want, it's all up to you. (BTW, if anyone knows how to get midi files to pick up in the rotation, please tell me! I really want to be able to do this!!!! what with processor and hard drive space restrictions...)
