IceDragon987
There isn't much traffic in the Tech Support and I need this to be resolved ASAP. My GECK keeps crashing when I try to add dialogue or edit exsisting dialogue. I've already uninstalled and re-installed Fallout 3 and the G.E.C.K. twice and no luck. I've already tried just loading Fallout3.esm and seeing if it was just the mod I'm working and still no luck. If anyone knows what is going please let me know, till then I'm surfing the net and cannot find an instance of anyone else having this problem. Any help is greatly appretiated and will be credited in my mod (not like its an extraordinary title, just crediting you for the help (if of course it works, if it doesn't I still thank you) ThanksIceD
Interfer0
I thought I had read something once about GECK crashing if you try to open the dialogue editor a certain way. I'll have to see if I can find it for you.

IceDragon987
lol TGBlank posted the same time I did. I am going to try what TGBlank PM'd me and if it works I will post it here so it may be seen through forum searches if others have the same problem. Wish me luck IceD
IceDragon987
**UPDATE**Well despite the help I've received I still cannot add any topic dialogue. Although I never saw it till now but every time the GECK crashes an "EditorStackTrace" is created in the Fallout 3 directory this is what it said after GECK Crashed: 0042D132 (GECK): (filename not available): (function-name not available) I have searched and haven't found anything about this yet so if anyone can help I'd appreciate it
Pax1138
Let me guess: you're running on Windows Vista, right? If so, you're having the same problem I and a select few other "lucky" people are having. GECK + Vista on some people's computer just causes crashes whenever trying to open the dialogue editing screen. I have been angry at the thing since the GECK came out in December, but I have yet to find a solution. I know the problem itself goes all the way back to the TES editor for Oblivion - and Beth still hasn't fixed it in all this time. If you find a solution, I would be decidedly happy to hear it, but as far as I know, it is merely aggravation without end. -Pax
IceDragon987
Alright well I'm going to install XP on my other harddrive and just boot to Xp whenever I need it. I mostlikely only need it for modding though, but we'll see. I used to be an avid XP Fan but Vista has grown on me Let me guess: you're running on Windows Vista, right? TGBlank
Vista is really not the best environment for gaming/modding ^^' everything seems to need uncanny and unintuitive tweaking to even work.I suspect that parts of the code where taken from the Necronomicon, and thus, Chtulhu is able to spread it's influence through vista computers, causing the weird bugs and slowly opening a portal to our world. IceDragon987
*cough* I'm having to boot XP from a USB drive my *cough* boot CD isn't working for some reason. CGi
i had the same problem, which vanished after i decided to close some running processes. To do so, i only use Process Explorer with the option "Kill Process Tree".i closed the following: - Windows Mobile-based device management [%windir%\WindowsMobile\wmdSync.exe] - another Windows mobile component (removed it from my PC and forgot it's name) * - Acronis Scheduler [%programfiles%\common files\acronis\schedule2.exe] * - MediaPortal TV-Service [%programfiles%\team mediaportal\mediaportal tv server\tvservice.exe] * - MySQL [%programfiles%\mysql\mysql server 5.0\bin\mysqld-nt.exe] * - if the O&O-Defrag trayprogram is running and O&O is set to defrag in the backround, disable the backround defrag or close the trayservice. * - if MDM.EXE is running, close this as well. it's the MS Debugger, that causes trouble with some copyprotections as well.* mark services They all got in common, that they affect drives and/or filesystems by accessing them from time to time or locking data on them.So i recommend closing all such processes.if this didn't help, let GECK use only 1 core/cpu. Works this way for a friend of mine. Hope this helps, as it did for me.
