Editing a no longer supported Companion

I've started to use a companion mod and decided to change the outfit to cleaner clothes. I am a total noob to editing etc and figure wth, I'll play around fixing things on an existing Companion. The mod author is no longer working on the project. Busy working for Bethesda now.

 

First problem was companion would go from default body shape to basically stay puff marshmallow man.Figured this was because I have CBBE installed. Also noticed invisible hands.

 

I take the invisible hands as meaning the meshes are missing? Equip gloves and those show, take them off and no hands. I found a way to deal with the stay puff man body via adjusting sliders via CK. Companion also likes to default to default outfit at times. She is flagged ? as Unique if that makes a difference?

 

Looking in FO4Edit I can see BOD2 template with listed slots, but I have no idea what changing the values does or what I would change hand values to for skin textures to be present? I even tried a preset to see what would happen and that did not fix invisible hands.

Resetting to default outfit is a common problem with all NPC's - long time issue that many things can trigger.

Most likely to happen if the Companion gets stuck/left behind somewhere and 3D unloads (when you fast travel away).

 

Are they a special RACE as normally there is a 'default' skin specified (which is just an Armor) in the race record that has everything (including hands).

If they are human then thats all covered - but human skin 'armors' have 2 'armor addons' - body and hands - so if that mod has a special 'skin' then check that.

Otherwise check the slots covered by the clothes (Armor) you are making them wear. If it covers slot 34 and 35 then it means it is meant to include hands (so if it is normal clothing the hands will be invisible).
