ADragonCalledGeorge
I looked on the Nexus and was shocked that this hasn't been created yet! I know there is a couple of Atlantis mods but this is different to that. Basically, it is a mod request to put mermaids (good), and sirens (evil), into Skyrim along with dozens of other sea creatures (such as Hippocampi and giant, rideable sea horses) and other sea monsters (such as kraken, sea serpents, leviathans, giant squid, whirlwinds/maelstroms and more) and - The Trident! - into Skyrim. The various sea creatures and sea monsters would be sentient but not talk. They would just be treated as monsters or peaceful creatures though Mermaids would be friendly but not talk with you because they aren't allowed to converse with Land Dwellers. They have a huge underwater kingdom ruled by the Mermaid King who wields the legendary Trident, a weapon so powerful it can be wielded underwater (obviously) unlike any other weapon made by man or mer. However, strangely enough, rumor has it that the Trident cannot be used as a weapon on dry land. This is to keep things balanced and prevent them from being over-powered and unrealistic. It can be carried like any other weapon but just not used on the surface, only under/in water. Sirens would look like Mermaids but be semi-translucent as that's how I always pictured them and kind of like the Haggravens of the Sea. The only way to get a Trident is by crafting it at a Water Shrine (using stuff from Dawnguard and the Snow Elves maybe) and after slaying the Shrine's guardians which could be a Kraken or some such monster. Also, you can only see sea creatures and sea monsters once you wear a special set of Sea Goggles (Dwemer-looking Goggles0 that can also be crafted at the Water Shrine. This is because the Mermaid King made a powerful spell so that only those with the Blessing of the Sea or a Mermaid or something could see underwater beings except for fish. However, an ancient adventurer learned how to enchant a pair of goggles with the Blessing of the Sea but he died when he was exploring the sea and looking at the Mermaids and forgot to wear a waterbreathing helmet or drink a waterbreathing potion. There could also be a set of Dwemer-like flippers that let you swim faster (similar to sprint but for swimming) which can again be crafted at the Water Shrine. That's about it for ideas but obviously there would be some quests and to start the mod you get a starting quest telling you that rumor is spreading about a mysterious shrine guarded by a fierce monster in the middle of a lake. You then explore the shrine, defeat the Kraken however you want and craft the goggles, Trident, and flippers. You done your waterbreathing/swimming gear and dive in armed with your Trident and wits to explore the kingdom and denizens that lie beneath the sea. Along the way you fight powerful bewitching sirens who like to seduce their prey (as such they are scantily clad and sing entrancing songs that can lull you into a sleep you will never wake up from cause they feed on you afterwards), powerful ancient leviathans (water dragons) who are fast and freaky, and explore the epic kingdom of the Mermaid King and his underwater citizens. There could be other quests to save the kingdom from a Leviathan Invasion that is to get revenge for you slaying the Kraken or something. And after that there can be radiant quests to slay random leviathans and wipe out underwater Kraken nests guarded by sirens or something. There is also plenty of chests underwater full of awesome loot goodness. Anyhow, that's about it and I am sorry for rambling but I am so full of ideas but can't mod for the life of me!! :) Also, the vision/goggles thing would explain why no one else in Skyrim knows about the Mermaids and underwater creatures except for fish and why none have been spotted before now. Because you can't see them if you are NOT wearing the goggles. You can also disenchant the goggles and place the enchantment on a helmet along with a Fortify Waterbreathing enchantment if you have the dual enchantments which would be a very smart helmet to wear while visiting the Mermaid Kingdom. Many thanks in advance and fingers crossed!! :)
MostlyMuggie
This is quite a huge request. Perhaps you should try your hand at modding. Also, I don't think it would fit in the cold waters of skyrim and the goggles seem like it woud be almost impossible to make... It would be better if it was a whole new location that is in warmer waters outside of skyrim. You can go there with the use of a nautical explorer. Here is a Siren Race mod if this works for youhttp://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/23518//?
