Halororor
Teaser Trailer. About time. I can barely wait! I wonder if Sheppard really is dead? Aaargh... I can't wait to find out what the whole story behind the trailer is!
Monolithic0117
That's kind of old news, it was announced back in February. They did a feature on GTTV for it: What's new in Mass Effect 2. Very tantalizing, as you can see.
WrathOfDeadguy
For what it's worth, I hope Shepard really is dead. Not that I dislike my Shepard or anything, but with a new game I'd rather start fresh with a new character rather than having to deal with some crappy explanation for why my Level 60 powerhouse complete with fully modded X-level weapons and armor is suddenly back at level 1 again. They'd have to do it, too, or the entire character development aspect of the game would be toast. Alternately, they could just add 60 more levels' worth of gear, but that would require them to preserve all of the existing stuff- which I doubt they'd do, as it will already take quite a bit of shoehorning to get a sequel's worth of content on one DVD. I'd also rather not have the whole game become "The Search for Shepard;" that act is really difficult to pull off without flattening the new PC under the shadow of the old. It's a pretty safe bet that the save data will be used only to fill in character history for Sheps and plot-affecting decisions such as who lived and died in ME1. I'd expect a new PC with a mostly new crew and some familiar faces. Hopefully, we'll get a Salarian buddy this time, too- they're so lovably neurotic. :) *edit- And while we're on wishes, I want a Volus supply officer and an Elcor... something. Monolithic0117
For what it's worth, I hope Shepard really is dead. I believe it was confirmed that you reprise your role as Shepard (the Platinum Hits edition of Mass Effect included a feature about Mass Effect 2). UnholyShadow
I hate it when people think that if you load your ME1 save game you'll have the same items. They mean that you'll have the same squad member dead, the same relationships with various squad members, the same story decisions, and possibly the same morality. They wouldn't just give you your HMWA X with all of your level X mods. Also, my theory for the teaser trailer is that when it says Shepard was K.I.A. that's just the screen it shows when you die, instead of the stupid slow motion thing. Also, everyone is forgetting to do one thing. Think. The general response to Shepard was extremely positive. There is no way in hell that they would kill him/her off after only a third of the series is done.
TheTerminator2004
So long as it isnt as buggy as the last one, it should be a pretty awesome game :D Oh, and assuming EA don't use DRM. Like that's going to happen :P
doomjockey
What I would personally like to see are better explorable planets. As it stands, the impressive galaxy Bioware managed to create is: 1) Barren (though that might make sense with the lore). I'd love to have more cities and civilisations. If I recall, the civilisations visited number only about 4 or 5, in an entire galaxy. Programming limitations apply, but I'd still love more. 2) Unrewarding. Exploring planets is limited to driving around, shooting the odd worm, and collecting various informations which amount to little more than a QTE game. Although some of these planets are truly striking aesthetically (kudos on design), they often lack any meaningful content beyond collectables. Anyway, that's just two wishes. I'm sure ME2 will astound as well as its predecessor.

I'm sure ME2 will astound as well as its predecessor. While this may also be a lot to ask of Bioware, maybe they could also consider certain planets respawn their enemies (different ones each time of course) or maybe randomly generate planets and side-quests, etc. so the experience is truly different each time. May be a lot, but I'm pretty sure it's feasible. Oh, and finally, you should be able to make a truly evil character. Be able to start destroying the galaxy as well. Though, unfortunately (IMO), that's probably not the direction Bioware wishes to steer into. Though I really do hope, if anything, they improve the user interface. Maybe even make the game modable like everyone's beloved Oblivion. Now that would certain raise the replayability value!
WrathOfDeadguy
I believe it was confirmed that you reprise your role as Shepard (the Platinum Hits edition of Mass Effect included a feature about Mass Effect 2). Bioware has also officially confirmed that the info given in the teaser trailer is accurate. That means one of a few different possibilities: A. Bioware is pulling our legs and none of their 'official statements' are to be taken at face value (i.e. Sheps could be truly KIA or the teaser could be a smokescreen for the real story). B. You start the game as Shepard, then Shepard dies and you assume control of another PC. C. The story is told from an aftermath perspective, where Sheps is dead and by playing the game we learn how it happened. *edit: or D. Something changed between the initial announcement and the trailer. I wish I'd thought about that before; it would be a pretty cool way to reintroduce the universe. Give the player a high-level character during the intro/tutorial bits, then take them back to the basics after Plot Stuff Happens. IIRC, Square did something similar in a few of the earlier Final Fantasy titles. I would much rather end up with a new PC at level 1, though. I dislike when expansions pull the "high-level is now low-level" trick; I don't expect I'd like it any more if a sequel did it. That's exactly what would have to happen if all of your gear carried over and you got to keep playing as Sheps through the whole game, too- otherwise there would be no RPG character development, and the game would just be a shooter. Far, far better just to get booted back to level 1 with a new PC.
