Attach Skeleton to a Armor

Hey Community,

recentlly i am working for armor mods.

i got so far that i have the mesh with uv map and texture and exported it (gmax).

But for some reason the armor just doesnt move its like a static headchopped ghost that is following my flying chopped head and feets of my char.

i tried by adding the skeleton of the malebody nif but this is the result. i am really new to modding (armor modding started yesterday). so if somebody can help me or give hints and tips it would be great.

her a pic of what i meant:

Well, creating armor and clothing is quite tricky. I would recommend to start with something easier like weapons if you are new to modding. Armor/Clothing - pretty much everything that is attached to a character's body (even the body/skin itself) is skinned/weighted.

In fact the armor's polygons are attached to the character's skeleton so they stay and morph in the correct position when you move. Afaik skinning/weighting armor is only possible with 3DsMax and Blender, both need own nif plugins so you can import/export skinned nif files.

You might check out the tutorial section in the MOD TALK board for skinning tutorials - or youtube. If you really want to start with skinned objects you might test a helmet...i'm using 3DsMax, same method as this guy:

Armor is harder to import since you have weight it by hand... there is a written 2part tutorial for Blender somewhere in the MOD TALK tutorial sticky thread as well.
