Brawl bug(fix not working)

No matter what I do, this: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/24020//?

does not fix the brawl bug that I have. The fight is going well until near the end when my opponent stops fighting. And if I hit them then I get a bounty and a real fight starts. I have tried all three versions, using the compatible version and non-compatible versions(not at the same time obviously) at the top of my load order and at the bottom. I tried the modders resource as well but non of them work

I am at a complete loss at what to do. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this?

For some reason my post combined my first sentence into the link. It's been fixed and the post explains what is going on.

By "fight" I mean "brawl" like fist fights you can have with npc's like with Uthgerd the Unbroken for example. And no matter what I do I cannot brawl an npc without them eventually ending the fight suddenly.

Have you run BOSS and taken care of all the messages in the log file it generates (including but no limited to TES5Edit cleaning, compatibility issues, and manually placing unrecognized mods properly.)

If so, can you please post your BOSS log (copy/paste text file, enclose in spoilers.) You can find the option for the log to be in text file in a checkbox on the BOSS GUI. You can find the spoiler tag in the pulldown menu of the third icon to the left on the top toolbar.

I do not clean mods that are not mine since, from what I gathered from Gopher's videos, that can cause some problems. I did clean out the master files however and do indeed use BOSS.

I don't know which Gopher video you are referring to, because I am pretty sure he has never said cleaning mods will cause problems (as long as it's done correctly). And just for the record, contrary to whatever ignorance that might still be circulating on the Steam forums, mod cleaning does -not- break mods, as long as it's done correctly. So...

1) Cleaning: clean the plugins flagged by BOSS as containing 'dirty edits', except those indicated by BOSS as 'do not clean' by the authors. You will need to remove identical to master entries as well as undelete/disable deleted references.

2) Maintenance: go through the entire BOSS log carefully, and look for any error messages, such as this:

  Quote

  • posesivecorpses.esp Active
    • Error: Delete. Already included in Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp

Then attend to those messages. I recommend you uninstall the mods with navmesh errors rather than try to repair them.

3) You have many (too many) plugins not recognized by BOSS. What do you normally do with them?

4) Which NPC brawler do you have trouble with?

Possessive corpses does more than what is included in the unofficial patch, as explained on the mod page. So despite that message, it is needed.

And I have problems with all of the npc brawler mods. The modders resource version, compatible version, and the standard version

As for the Gopher video in question:

That is a video -teaching- users how to clean mods. What Gopher says is that users should generally not clean every single mod (true), and should have a relatively good idea what how to do this before they go ahead and do it. What I have suggested you do is not to clean -every single mod-, but only mods that have been flagged by BOSS as containing 'dirty edits.'

Plugin cleaning is an important aspect of maintaining a clean and stable load order. So download TES5Edit, follow the instruction in Gopher's video or the step by step instruction on the page linked in your BOSS log. You will need to 1) remove identical to master entries, and 2) undelete/disable deleted references (this one is more important, CTD-prevention wise).

- for now, clean only plugins flagged by BOSS as containing 'dirty edits.'

- do not repeat clean mods.

I don't know what 'extra feature' 'Possessive Corpses' adds which hasn't already been included in USKP, but 'Possessive Corpses' has not been updated since February 2012. That's over a year ago, which means if any official updates made changes to the relevant scripts modified by PC, PC's edits will not include (and will in fact override) those updated changes. It also apparently does not support any DLCs. You are advise to uninstall the mod, but it's entirely up to you. If you trust and modder and has assurances from him/her. I am not going to bother to check the source script to verify since I don't use the mod. This is not related to the 'brawl bug patch' issue you have reported, but tends to the 'long term health' of your savegames.

There are other 'error' messages, you are advised to double check, or even triple check, the entire log to make sure you attend to every message. Again, not related to the 'brawl bug', but to maintaining a clean and stable load order in general.

Also, you didn't answer my question about what you normally do with the plugins not recognized by BOSS. This is probably the most likely cause of why the 'brawl bug fix' patch is not working for your modded set up.
