Peregrine
Don't expect a "real" martial arts mod/Oblivion feature. There's a reason all those things are for unarmed fighting, if the opponent has a real weapon (not a tiny knife) they're suicide. Morrowind's system for unarmed combat was just fine. There's no point in putting more than the most basic uses for something that's only use requires the TGM cheat.

In the Black Mill mod, for instance, there's a tavern with a boxing ring. Quite an interesting idea, IMO.
Peregrine
Yes, but that's going to be very rare. It makes no sense to put a ton of time and effort into developing a complex unarmed combat system if it's only going to be used in a couple minor plot events. Dilvish
My current character is a monk. He has finished all of the Imperial Cult quests using hand to hand and unarmored. I'm using the Monk mod by Aragon and the Fists of Fire mod by Argent to beef up the unarmored and hand to hand skills. They are pretty weak in the original game.Sure the hand to hand fighting moves are pretty simple. So are the sword fighting techniques. I use my imagination to fill in the gaps.I haven't kept up with the latest news on Oblivion but I realize that it won't be the universal panacea for RPG gamers. Hand to hand combat is outside of the Morrowind mainstream. The mainstream wants better graphics, cool weapons, flashing lights, dire contrivances, and whatever else. A greatly improved martial arts system has to be way down Bethesda's list. I wonder if Morrowind might not be too complex. It seems like some new players get lost in the size and choices and loose interest. Oblivion may be more financially successful if it's smaller and not so open-ended. The mainstream wants more immediate gratification. New Oblivion expansions each year will generate steady sales. A construction set will be there keep the modders and hardcore Oblivionos happy.
