First i have put the geck in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout New Vegas.

Is it in the right spot? or do i put it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout New Vegas\Data ??

My problem is that when i try to open up the geck and start modding i untick every think but FalloutNV.esm

and i set as active file then i press OK and it crashes. - GECK PROBLEM

I make a batch file put it in the write place and in the CC i type bat skills and i does not do any think. any help?

The geck belongs in the \common\Fallout New Vegas\ folder, not the data folder.

I am not sure what your last sentence means.

Try checking your system for issues.

Current version of everything, drivers, net framework, etc.

All else fails, backup your fallout new vegas folder and your c:\Users\YOUR_NAME\Documents\My Games\FalloutNV folders, delete it all and reinstall.

The "active file" is the file that the GECK saves to. If you're editing an existing plugin, you'll set it as your active file. If you are creating a new plugin, you do not set an active file at all.

ESMs normally can't be used as active files, and FalloutNV.esm should not be directly edited for any reason.
