Riddleofsteel
I have an autosave just inside the door at the Regulator HQ. When I load it, the game freezes and stops responding. If I load the last real save which is outside, and I walk into the building through the door, the game is fine. I just re-installed the game fresh so I am pretty puzzled as to why this is happening. I am running FO3 1.015, unofficial patch and fake patch. Thanks for any ideas.
TGBlank
Vanilla fo can (tho rarely does) screw saves for no other reason than it's own amusement. With and without mods, regardless of version.
Riddleofsteel
It seems to either freeze on almost all my autosaves, or when I save inside a building. Maybe a combination of both. I am now in Megaton and it freezes on me in Craterside Supply within seconds or a few minutes. Why would this not happen the last time I installed the game? TGBlank
Fallout is rather temperamental. Also, autosaves are very temperamental, use CASM instead.
Riddleofsteel
Thanks for telling me about CASM. Unfortunately it's freezing on CASM saves too now, so I think something else is happening.
TGBlank
Fallout's save system is broke, afaik. I've found CASM saves and "normal" saves far more forgiving than autosaves tho. Also, the way it seems to work is that at 1 random point, the game screws up something and saves made are corrupt, but the game itself doesn't crash or gives any warning, and you only notice the problem when you close the game and try to reload. Riddleofsteel
I wonder what's causing the freezes then. It didn't do this on my last install of FO3.
TGBlank
Fallout 3 is rather fickle on that i'm afraid. Fickle enough to make isolating such bug very very hard.
