Viva New Vegas references DUST as a "Poorly made mod with almost 1000 errors in FNVEdit. Has a combination of deleted records, leftover null references, missing records, and more." It's probably best to get rid of it and try a different mod like Vicious Wastes - Difficulty Rebalance: https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/56671

(It's under Mods to Avoid for Viva)

Dust mod has a thread there about which mod is approriate for Dust, I quote

  • YDL-S - Regain your compass ticks. I find this sheesh save me so much headache. i hate not knowing, so this help in DUST.
  • Tunneler detection fix. Absolutely necessary considering the huge amount of them.
  • DUST Survival Simulator - Expanded LocationsThis one reopen up some areas closed in dust. most importantly, Vault 3, by which you can pacify the fiend and get neutral relation with a good portion of tribals.
  • MoreMojave esm and DUST Survival Simulator - MoreMojave PatchGood stuffs! Much more locations where there should be one.
  • Cave Pack. Adding 8 caves where there used to be dark holes. Work on vanilla too.
  • DUST Tweaks - Better Repair and MoreThis one fix a lot of stuffs and use some other fix below, so it can save you some troubles.
  • DUSTed DUST - Even More DUST Fixes and Tweaks . a personalized version of dust tweaks
  • Fallout DUST Flora Restora : absolutely necessary for your mental health. I dont want a dead lifeless land of Dust even if that's original design. You might want horrors and ignore this, your call.
  • Fallout DUST Makeshift Mastery: very useful and strong in dealing with a big group of dust weapons.
  • Rat Race: introduce the biggest cavern area in FNV, and a pipe system that help you traverse the perimeter of Camp Golf. Quite useful. there are 3 cannibalism recipe lie in books and notes, so if that's not to your liking, save before reading them. Require an extra modder resource, though.
  • Understone Enhanced. Provide a community in the central area of the map. 3merchants and a not-working doctor. Quite, useful~ Plus, it introduce new small changes in certain terrain (like Repconn test site, it wall off a small section with a little loot and background)
  • AWOP Revised Lore Friendly mod, that version cut down a lot on awop original, and cut all the new armor/weapon/note/aid items so it's 100% lore friendly. It is suitable for Dust, and the original AWOP is NOT.

They are a combo that get tested and tried by lots of people.

Anything more and you risk discompatibility due to Dust overhaul everything. Especially v2.0.

I recommend a complete fresh FNV, fresh Dust, the above, then you install your choice ONE BY ONE to test which work and which dont. That way they are a combo serve under Dust, nor forcing Dust to work with your choice. less risk that way.

FNV files

everything else in between, one by one adding in here

Dust

Adding Dust to a configuration for normal FNV is a recipe for disaster.
