Something I'd like to see (if possible)

If I had any sort of free time in my life, I'd make attempts at this myself.

Locations of small neighborhoods that are -flattened- litter the map.

Why not make a mod where you can find people to help you rebuild some of them, and turn them into communities?

Make it to where, say, it takes ~8 workers one in-game day to repair each building, then they move in and manage the town.

Then you can build/place sentries (or combine this with one of those robot-building mods to assist in defense) to help fight off Super Mutant and Raider invasions

You could maybe drop someone there and make them the town sheriff, and they can buzz you on your Pipboy with a warning of spotting raiders and/or super mutants gathering around the nearby town

On top of that, some of the townspeople can be specialists. Doctors and such. Show you some tricks, give you items, make things with them, or even find hidden things around the site (e.g. an underground bunker or what-not).

The towns should be self-sufficient if they have the proper defenses (eliminates them nagging you to death like in SPORE), and if the defenses are strong enough, they should be fine.

Edit: They should also loot the attackers for their weapons. If one of the super mutants happened to have a minigun on them, then that's one more townsfolk who'll be fighting the next raid with a minigun.

On top of that, they should pay you rent (E.G. Owned! mod).

It's 200 years later. Shouldn't SOMEONE start the reconstruction effort?

Also -- to those of you who are rebuilding the wasteland and cleaning up some of the debris to add more in -- Fix up those raider bases. Who in the world puts a bed out in the middle of nowhere with nothing over it? A tarp, a bent sheet of metal, anything, but keep your mattress dry! No one wants to be alseep, then it starts raining on their face...
