CTD at "Nine Years Later"

Hi!

I'm taking this game for a second spin, after finishing all expansions on the Xbox some years back.

This time around I was hoping for the largest, most extensive experience possible, so I downloaded an ungodly amount of mods and spent the last night plus a good part of today installing it and setting the load order in a way FO3Edit won't b&@*$ about... finished a few hours ago.

Everything was going smooth, "All Caps" McKenzie was born after some quest messages (mods kicking in, I suppose). "One year later" and he's statted and ready to rock... until he follows dad into the light. The game then crashes to desktop a few seconds after "Nine years later" comes on the screen. Always.

Immediately after the "One year later" message, a message box came up asking me if I wanted to keep playing the tutorial or if it was all just a dream - once more I suppose it is product of one of the mods, something to bypass the Vault 101 area. At some point I chose that option too, to see if it worked, but it always crashed as well.

Does anyone have any idea or suggestion on how to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Nexus! If you haven't done so already, read this first: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/120735-how-to-install-mods-for-fallout-3/

so I downloaded an ungodly amount of mods and spent the last night plus a good part of today installing it and setting the load order in a way FO3Edit won't *censored* about.

You really should have activated them one at a time instead of installing them all at once. The proper procedure when installing mods (especially big ones) is to install them one at a time and check in-game if the mod is working as it should. Especially if you're new at all this.

Regardless, instead of fidgeting with Fo3Edit to set a proper load order, use BOSS (and do everything it recommends you to do). Fo3Edit really isn't meant to set load orders or anything like that.

And please post your load order once you've run BOSS. If only because BOSS won't point out everything.

I could be wrong, but it appears that upon starting the "9 Years Later" quest is when all your Attribute dependent stats are calculated, eg Endurance - Poison Resist, Rad Resist; Strength - Carry Weight, Unarmed Skill.

So it could be that something is causing the game to fail to calculate these stats. I would look at whatever mods are editing your Attributes and make sure none clash, or just turn them all off and try starting again.
