HiroNogano
Good evening. I am hoping a few of you can help me figure out what went wrong with my FNV and how to fix it. (I'm going to apologize for this being long-winded up front, but I want to give a clear picture of what's happened.) On Sunday (pretty much all day) I was able to play the game with just the usual random crashes. However, they were starting to get to me. So Sunday night I looked here on the Nexus forums for mods that might help. I did not install ANY mods on Sunday (I was too busy watching that horrible Charger game). On Monday after work, I came home and started looking up bashed patches and merged patches, and after several recommendations on several threads, I decided to install the Mission Mojave UE patches. NMM installed them no problem, but when I went to launch FNV, I got a Steam error about the executable bing missing. I looked, and it was there, but would not launch. Nor would the FNV launcher. Or NVSE. I got the same message each time (exe missing). I then validated my files, and was told that I had to redownload 700+ files! Which I did. So, after all of that I go to launch the game and it crashes immediately. Taking a moment to think, I realized that I was launching it through NVSE w/o launching the game proper first. So I did that, and it worked fine to verify all my settings. I then tried launching with/through NVSE, and it loaded up fine, but crashed when I tried to load my saved game. Looking in NMM, I see that all of my mods are de-activated. So I reactivated them all. Then launched. Same issue. Looking in the FNV launcher at my loaded files, I see that all of my mods are gone! So I manually deactivated and reactivated my mods in NMM. Still no joy. I tried loading BOSS to check my load order (and see if it saw the mods) but it only recognizes the base game and DLCs. I have looked online for a solution, but found nothing even close to my issue, so here I am asking for assistance. Any body got any bright ideas? I see that there is a load order backup.txt in the E:\Steam\steamapps\common\fallout new vegas\Install Info folder, and it does not have any of the mods in it. I don't see a non-backup version anywhere. Might that be the issue?
bjornl
Use FNVEdit to check your load order. It will check your files for dependencies. You probably actived some which contain multiple in-compatible ESP files... for example "MOD for game with ALL DLC".esp and "MOD for game with no DLC".esp will create problems. Ultimately you are probably going to have to add them back a few at a time. I downloading 700+ files seems rather extreme since the game theoretically supports 255 entries in the load order and starts to have issues somewhere in the 120-140 range for most people. HiroNogano
Thanks for the suggestion! I forgot about FNVEdit. Same issue as before. FNVEdit does not see any mods in the load order. Just vanilla + DLC. The issue seems to be something with the mods not getting listed in the load order file. I just don't know what file that is. bjornl
Then you are going to have to create that file over again from scratch.Backup everything, delete everything, re-install everything (in small groups not all at once and test as you go). HiroNogano
I was afraid you were going to say that... Thanks!
