Deleted269910User
You need a program to open that .rar file, most people use either 7-zip found here(Clicky!) or WinRar found here(Clicky!). I'd advice you to also read these; How To Install Plugins/mods, The official thread And after you finish up reading that, here's a little guide on folder structures to prevent any problems with incorrect file paths. When you've extracted the mod out of the archive, copy/paste the contents to your oblivion folder and check that your folder setup inside Oblivion\Data-folder is EXACTLY like I'm showing below this paragraph. When checking your folder setups, make sure it's 100% identical to what it was in the .rar/.7-zip/.ace file, while following the below mentioned format.(Eg. possible subfolders for textures etc. But under no circumstances should there ever be a duplicate of the parenting folder, eg. Data\Data, Textures\Textures, you catch the drift.): X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data --> All esps here.X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Textures --> Folders containing .dds and _n.dds files go here.X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Meshes --> Folders containing .nif files go here.X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Sound --> Folders containing any sound(.wav, .wma etc.) or .LIP files go here.X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Music --> Folders containing any music files go here.X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Video --> .bik files go here, these are pretty much the animations in the game.X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Shaders --> .FX files and .SDP(Session Description Protocol.) files go here. No mods should edit these.X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\DistantLOD --> .lod files go here. _________________________________________________________________X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\obse(Created by Oblivion Script Extender)X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Bash(Created by WryeBash)X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Bash Patches(Created by WryeBash)X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Docs(Created by WryeBash)X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\INI Tweaks(Can't remember.)X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\LSData(Can't remember.)X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\menus(Any HUD/UI changing mods.) On a side note; You probably won't have most of these folders there during your first few mod installs, but it's good to know how the folder setups go and where all the files belong. You also might want to take a look at Oblivion Mod Manager - OBMM later on, as it will allow you to easily manage your mod load order to prevent crashes and if you're uncertain about doing it yourself; Better Oblivion Sorting Software - BOSS can do it for you, but you do need to be exact when reading the install requirements. These two aren't necessary with your first mod installs, but later on with 4+ mods, or when you download your first large mod or overhaul, these will get important tools to have. Edit; Almost forgot, if you haven't already patched your game, you should. [[ignore this if you have a D2D, Direct-2-Drive, version of the game.]]The patches can be found from here(Clicky!). Make sure to install the correct patch for your version/region of the game and only ONE of the 1.2.0416 patches, for either normal Oblivion, or for Oblivion & SI.(Trying to use both can have interesting side effects with varying problems.)
