NexusFiles
Supposedly it is governed by an animation file and can't be eliminated or nearly reduced to 0 with using FOEdit? Is this true?
StormWolf01
Heyas NexusFiles :smile:Completely False.Guns in this game have a file that is called their AimModel file. (tho some use AM's from other guns). Anyway, it's the AimModel file that has all the settings for recoil, stability, accuracy, along with a few others. All of which Can be changed, by changing the number values there in their settings.Trust... I do this on a LOT of the guns that I have in my game. Hope this helps -Storm
StormWolf01
Here is a couple of screenshots that I took from Xedit. One is a vanilla Assault Rifle Aim Model file. The other is my (Very HIGHLY) modified HK g36 rifle Aim Model file. Compare the two.The G36 file is extremely finely tuned. Even on full auto that thing would IRL magdump on full auto, a full mag, into 1 to 3 holes on a paper target. Now, keep in mind tho, that it actually IS possible to create Reverse Recoil, where the weapon recoils Downward. By setting the recoil Too Low. If you fire a vanilla gauss rifle, with a silencer, you will see what I mean. I have found tho, that these exact same settings don't achieve the exact same results on all weapons. Some of them will recoil more or travel more during recoil that the G36 does. Which yeah... I'll attribute to the animations. However, not that the animation itself causes the gun to buck more. More along the lines of where the animations have the weapon placed in the hands, it's body position, stuff like that. It's fun to experiment with. Trying different settings, figuring out what does what, what causes what, how to fix this and that ;)
NexusFiles
I tried about a dozen settings for the hunting rifle AM, and none of it seems to be reducing it. Not sure what I am doing wrong.
StormWolf01
Heyas NexusFiles. :)Ok, so Imma just cover ALL the bases here, just in case. Don't take anything in this post personal, I'm just wanting to make sure that everything is covered ;) Ok the key factors in the gun's movements in that file are these: Recoil Max Per shot, Recoil Min per shotRecoil Arc, Recoil Arc Rotate. These latter two, are how much it travels when it recoils. Arc is the distance to travel. Arc Rotate is what direction, in degrees, to travel. (I think, as far as Arc Rotate. I could be wrong there) Runaway - This one I don't remember. It's been about 2 years since I've played the game, or done gun edits :( After Editing the file, make sure to press the CTRL key and the S key on your keyboard, to have Xedit save the file. Make sure that your file you are editing is in your Playing Game folder (I say this, cuz some of us have multiple game installation folders.)Close Xedit, and start the game. In SOME cases, you may have a problem with an existing weapon, not accepting the new settings, and running off the settings that it had, when it was spawned. In cases like that, there's a few things you can try. Modify the weapon at a workbench.Trade the weapon to a companionTrade the weapon to a vendor, then buy it back.Leave the weapon in a container, leave the cell, wait a few minutes, then re-enter the cell. (IE- leave it in a mailbox in sanctuary, fast travel to diamond city. Then return to sanctuary (to respawn the cell) and then try the weapon again.)In many cases, just getting the weapon off your character and then back onto them will cause the item to change to the new settings. In some cases, Modifying it, will do that. Worst case scenario is that you have to find a way to get rid of THAT item, and try again with a new one. StormWolf01
Just thought of something else too. Check the file for the scope/sights the weapon is using. See if it has a recoil modifier attached to it. That could be overriding the settings that you're putting on the gun.
Dreadshow
Have you redeploy after changing the setting?
StormWolf01
The attachments on the rifle could also be affecting the new settings. Especially things like silencers, recoil compensators, sometimes barrels, usually stocks, etc etc. If so, you would need to edit those as well.
