Companions silenced weapon still loud

Heyas Frank :)

Ok, so I've got 2 things that come into mind for this problem you're having.

1) Some mods can affect the vanilla sounds, if the mod replaces the vanilla sounds that the vanilla guns are using.

2) It depends on how the developers created the actual modification for the weapon. If they added in the keywords that the weapon is now silenced, it should work ok, regardless of who is using the weapon. However, if they only made it use a different sound, with the suppressor attached, then only the person wielding the gun, will hear it as a suppressed weapon. And naturally, NPCs are gonna be hearing it

In the former case, another detriment is that without the keyword, some of your sneak attack bonuses and other things like that, will not be applied.

basically you would need to look up the weapon's suppressor in the CK or FO4Edit (Xedit) to be able to tell for sure.

hi, thx for replying,

1. english isnt my main language, 2. im a noob when it comes to CK, fo4edit etc. and im still kinda trying to understand what u wrote :)

so i had the problem with the deliverer, no wonder i never had it in the past cause i never gave it to a companion... and i had the problem recently with 2 mod weapons, a pistol and a rifle.

question: i deactivated (not deleted) my weapon mods and the problem with the deliverer was still there. is it enough to deactivate mods to check if they cause problems or is it necessary to delete them?

Hi Frank. Ok, I am sorry that I became too technical. I did not know that you are not native to English language.

I DID look in the files, and the files that came with the game are set up correctly for the deliverer. So it IS a mod making the change.

It depends on what the mod is doing. If it is a file that is telling the gun to use a different sound, then just deactivating the mod would PROBABLY work. But you may have to try a save game from before the problem started.

If it is a mod that makes a NEW gun sound, and replaces the old one, yes you would need to delete the mod.

Frank, what is your native language? I will try to talk to you through a translator if that will help ;)

hi,

haha thats nice of u but i dont think its necessary

thanks for looking in the files! that helps a lot, now that i know its on my end. since i only have one pistol mod installed (hk usp by wretched89) and the problem occurs with the deliverer and that one pistol mod, its most likely thats the one mod causing the problem, right?

i am currently playing fo4 therefore i dont wanna delete the mod mid-game. but i will, once im done (or dead since i play permadeath...) and then check it.

once again, thx for the help!
