Roebuck101
Im currently using the Grim ENB and my game is mostly stable except sometimes I will crash loading a save but attempting it again, will load it. I was wondering if ENBs can cause loading saves to crash sometimes especially if the ENB is performance heavy.
StormWolf01
Heyas Roebuck. I'm kinda guessing here, cuz I really don't know much about ENBs.But I would make the guess that it's "No". Not unless the ENB is putting such a stress that your CPU, DIsk, or Memory (or combinations of) go into the red, in Device Manager.Which will cause your system resources to lag out. A big possibility is that your saves are full of scripts that are trying to load up, along with other info in the save, and are bogging out the game engine. This makes sense, because the scripts that DID manage to load, have gotten cached into the memory being used by the game, so the next time around, it's only trying to load the ones that didn't make it the first time. Mods that add a lot of those scripts are Creation Club Content, mods that affect the game right at the start (such as alternate start mods, mods that add things to the inventory, change the character, or change the world, set up quest starts at certain times, etc etc etc). If that's the case, it's going to be a permanent problem, I'm afraid. At least on THAT savegame tree (that character). Scripts are Baked In to the save. Meaning, they're permanently there, even if the mod using them, has been removed (Thank you oh so much for not updating your game engine...BETHESDA!).And removing mods from active plays is bad, because it can cause exactly what I'm talking about. Pro Tip, regardless of whether this is the problem or not. Don't test mods on your active plays. Either create or download a savegame, that you use specifically for adding mods. Test the mod out, on the "tester" savegame first, before switching over to any of your active characters. ;)
StormWolf01
Another thing I just thought of, since save game files for this game can get really, really big.Is your primary drive a magnetic hard drive, or a solid state drive? If it's a hard drive, maybe possibly do a defrag on the drive, to see if that will help them load better. If it's a solid state drive, DON'T defrag it. That causes too much wear on the drive, and modern SSD's have software to compensate for defragmented files.
