When merging two mods that alter the same records, does the more recent timestamped ESP take priority?

Example:

mod 1 changes iron dagger to 100 damage (date of esp = 1st jan 2021)

mod 2 changes iron dagger to 200 damage (date of esp = 1st jan 2022)

If I were to merge these two mods would mod 2's values be the ones in the merged ESP because it is more recently dated? Or would the end result be random?

It should be mod 2 really, as the last record is the one that is counted but open the merged mod in CS or with TES4EDIT and check it, alter it to the value you like to use really. The question is in which order the merger reads the 2 esps? Does it use the alphabetic order or timestamp? IDK... So check the merged mod.

In this case, if it is simple mods that only edit items, I would import them to Wrye Patch and just let Wrye Bash uncheck them, which seems easier than merging, but that's me. :D I prefer to have such records at a single instance, Wrye patch.

If it is only daggers, I would make a separate mod that alter all items that I want altered really, one single mod.
