thewarsend
I want to improve the Fallout 4 main quest line and solve a few issues I have with the game. To do that, I need to split a quest into two, but I am not sure how to do that. Most tutorials I have seen is either about basic fetch quests (and explain barely anything) or only contain information about how to create radiant quests. Basically, what I want to do is to split MQ102 into two parts, this quest will end right after clearing the Museum and talking with Preston. Preston will thank you for helping them, he and the rest of the survivors will move to Sanctuary without any mention of Fusion Cores, Power Armors, Miniguns or Deathclaws. Door leading to the upper floors of the Museum where the Power Armor is will be locked with a key. Preston will then be available as a companion but will not mention anything about helping settlements, rebuilding the Minuteman or making the player General until he really likes the player (which should be much later in the game). Second part of the quest will only trigger after retaking The Castle as a Sanctuary settlement quest, "Some raiders moved into Concord and harassing the Sanctuary settlers, go talk with Sturges." something like that. Sturges will give you the key and tell you there is a Power Armor on the roof of the Museum. Rest will play out like it did originally, except quest will be completed after defeating the raiders and the deathclaw. So this is basically what I want to do. Splitting that quest and giving player some room to breathe would do wonders. I already tried to implement this, but since my knowledge regarding editing quests are so limited, I can't fully figure out how to do it. I tried following a few tutorials, but information they provide is barely relevant and nothing helped. It is simply too complicated for me without a proper tutorial. Along with that, I imagine I would need to edit dialogue files, but I am not sure how to go about doing that either. Can anyone help me out? Or at least give me some pointers on how to do this? warwalkerjack
I really like this idea, it seems like it would help with early game pacing which is an issue with F4. But it doesn't seem like it would be easy to implement it. I would love to help you, but I have no idea how. Best thing I did so far is some texture mods. You are in the right place though, there are many extremely talented people around here. Assuming they would be willing to help. Probably not. Anyway, if you somehow manage to do this, please also turn radiant quests into regular quests and edit Nuka DLC settlement quests so you don't have to attack your own settlements. People who made Nuka DLC were clearly drunk.
thewarsend
I am glad at least someone likes the idea. Thanks. I completely agree about Nuka World DLC, it just doesn't really feel like a part of the main game to me. I imagine it would require extensive edits to fix that though. My main focus is the main game at the moment. I have several ideas I wish to implement in order to make Fallout 4 feel more like a proper Fallout game, most of them would relatively easy to implement, like replacing the Assault Rifle with R91 and renaming the existing Assault Rifle as Assault Machine Gun. It will use .50 ammo like the silencer suggests and with that water cooling should make a bit more sense. This part is already done. My mod will be mostly about lore and logic fixes basically.
