How To Make Custom Model With Blender?

Recommended Posts

In general, the work flow will go something like this:

  1. Watch tons of youtube vids to learn Blender.
  2. When you have mastered Blender, create a mesh (model) of your sign. This could be as simple as a box or it could get quite complicated depending on the design.
  3. UV map the model
  4. Develop your texture maps (set of three) based on your uv mapping using graphics program of choice (must be capable of saving as dds format). Apply textures to model.
  5. Export the model to NIF format.
  6. Import model in nifskope
  7. Jury rig a collision for the model, setup snap points etc.
  8. Using the Creation Kit to get your custom model into the game (i.e., create a mod)
  9. Test it out in game

For comprehensive guides I'd say some googling will be required. I don't usd blender myself, so I can't recommend any tutorials there. Kinggath has a nice turotial set on youtube for the Creation Kit. seddon4494 also has a number of Creation Kit tutorials. Lastly, be prepared to devote a bit of time to this endeavor.
