How to i put objects in containers?

i feel a little dense at the moment. i thought it couldn't be THAT difficult to add an object to a container.

but apparently i just can't find out how that is done.

neither bethesda's GECK help page nor google are a big help here.

what i want to do is this:

i want to take the Kamikaze Armor Beta 2 mod and modify it, so there are both versions available ingame. the one with the flag and the one without.

i thought i could copy the existing one, put the new model on it, give it another name and place it where the other one is placed in Girdershade.

the object creation shouldn't be the problem. at least it doesn't look that complicated.

but i can't figure out how to place the object.

it would be great if someone could tell me how to do that so i can enjoy the game again! =)

I create and use containers on a daily basis so i'll just give you a simple instruction. it's extremely easy.

Go ahead and load the GECK up. when everything is loaded type "Locker" in the object list filter then go to the bottom of the object list and click on the "All" category. the first item that should show up in your itemlist (unless you altered this previously)

is DClawFootlocker01. Right click and press the edit option. a box will apear showing all the data on that locker. to the left will be the name,ID clutter info etc,to the right will be the lockers inventory(which is what your looking for) you can right click inside the inventory box and click "new" for new items. the rest is self explanatory. use the object tab in the box to select which item you want;to the right of that is the tab for count, which you can choose how many of that item you want in the locker.

The NPC and Faction tabs decide if the locker is owned by a certain npc or entire faction such as the enclave.

I usually create a new ID and give it a new name so the locker can be unique and will not change the original setting of the locker but instead create your own personal one but that parts up to you.

Hope this helps and see you in Girdershade.

sorry for the late reply, but thank you very much for your explanations.

worked perfectly and i start to understand how the GECK works! =)

first i was afraid to overwrite object, when changing stuff, but now i know that it is able to generate a new item with the new functionality, if the ID is changed.

and i found out, that all enchantments on wearables work forever, even if the effect should be limited.

i wanted to make the new armor to give 1 point of shock damage for 30 seconds.

but it keep dishing out the damage after more than 30 seconds.

i guess i have to invest more time into finding out what the little quirks are, that the GECK has. =)
