In the following categories, what free apps, utilities, programs, or whatever are effective?

1. Creating untextured .NIFs

2. Texturing .NIFs

3. Creating/Converting to .TGAs

4. Editing .MP3s

(5?) Smoothing existing .NIFs

6. Creating and editing any other essential filetypes

--2. I found a program called NIFTexturer, but it doesn't have the ability to RENDER objects, as far as I know. Not efficient.

--3. Got a shareware program, but it adds a watermark

1) None.

2) NIFTexture

3) MS Paint, .jpg works just as well for textures.

4) Don't know.

5) None.

Why do you need to render things with NIFTexture? You do know what texturing is, don't you?

The reason I'd like NIFTexture to render stuff is so I don't have to open up the CS, go back to NIFTexture, and so on. Is the .NIF converter only available as a 3DMax plugin, or is there a standalone that can take meshes from other 3D design programs?

For 3, I was looking for something to make icons with. Of course, paint is so ancient that it doesn't support TGA (I assume that's the reason). Anything that converts to DDS should work just as well.
