tyclief
Hiya! I'm having the same issue 2 years later with the same code but I can't for the life of me find what's actually wrong; it keeps giving the same code despite me addressing the mods in question and continues to give it when others take their place. Surely there's sometihng else wrong? Did you ever find a solution?
jjb54
Okay ... first off: I am going to post the obvious steps to take. 1 - Did you go and check the requirements and updates and bugs on ALL your mods? And compatibilities and non-compatible?? Suggest you read posts in the mods specific forums and if there is a BUG section, read there also. 2 - You say "random" .. but is there a specific place you are? A specific weapon, armor or such that is being used? Or maybe a combination? IF there is than make note of it and then double check your specific mod forums for people having similar issues. Let me know .. I'll be watching and we might then need to go to the P.I.T.A. protocol, which totally sucks BIG TIME!
Karna5
jib54 gave the correct answer, but I'm just going to talk a little about the trouble shooting process I go through when I get seemingly random crashes. 1. I usually have 600+ mods installed, so I can't uninstall them all and reinstall one at a time to figure out which it is, but if I only had a couple of dozen mods installed like ItsVeiuzuh seems to have, I'd probably uninstall them all, start a new game, and install one at a time until I make sure each is stable before installing more. 2. Always start a new game when trouble shooting a crash. Always start a new game when uninstalling a complex mod. 3. I had a strange and frustrating case where I kept suddenly crashing to desktop in a fight, and at first I couldn't figure out what it was. I think I had uninstalled Nuka Ride, but I was crashing in the main land. Eventually, by chance, I figured out I could sneak or walk (not run) without crashing, but every time I ran (which includes walking without cap locks), I'd crash. From that I realized eventually that Nuka Ride was using Girly Animations, and I didn't have it actually installed anymore. So I installed Girly Animations by itself, and I stopped crashing. So it's a case where my run animations were missing/broken, and to solve it I had to install run animations. 4. Last week I had a case where every time I got up from the ground I'd crash. And every time I jumped I'd crash. So I went through the process of verifying I had good jump animations, and I even installed some mods which have jump animations. But none of that worked. But then I remembered the problem started after I had used Screen Archer Menu to perform some animations (something I rarely, rarely do since I usually do animations by either console command or AAF). So I had to find an old save from before I had tried Screen Archer Menu, and the crashing went away. So S.A.M. had broken my save such that I could not jump or get up off the ground without crashing. 5. One time, before I had upgraded to an Nvidia 3080 graphics card, I kept having sudden crashes while crossing sever boundaries. I had around 1000 mods going, and I play at 4k all-ultra, and I figured out that it was overtaxing my PC. If I dropped to 2k resolution instead of 4k resolution, I stopped crashing. I have a better graphics card now, so I am back to 4k all-ultra. My point with examples #3 through #5 is crashes are NOT random. They only seem that until you figure out what the pattern is, and once you figure out the pattern you can try stuff to identify what's causing it and how you can fix it. Often the fix is to start a new game, but not always. Usually you have to uninstall the latest mods you added AND start a new game to figure out the issue. fraquar
@Karna5 The thing is you really have to know what each mod does in your load order. If you don't you'll be flying blind. Even then there will still be times when you are flying blind because what you see makes no sense. It's for that very reason I am very hesitant to ever let my mod list reach the 100's. Ex. A case in point - years ago. I found out I was repeatedly crashing trying to enter Concord. Repeatable, but happening at different locations entering Concord - not always repeatable at the same location. I had no mods that altered Concord or the surrounding area - so it couldn't be a mesh issue. I literally had to do the Artillery bracketing system to find the problem because there was no indication of any type which mod was causing it from the mods I had installed. Removed 1/2 the mods and tested in a new game - worked fine. Added back 1/2 the mods I removed and tested - worked fine. Added back another 1/2 of what was left - whammo - crash to desktop. At the end of the day it ended up being Weapons Framework Beta (their update that edited animations). Those animations apparently affected the Raiders (who I hadn't even encountered yet). The last thing I'd think to look for, but there it is. ------ Added: LOL, I responded to your post and went back and looked at his error and mod list. Saw the error and said he's got to have Weapons Framework installed - looked down and there it was. Edited February 24 by fraquar
fraquar
If you have Weapons Framework installed you need to revert to the OLD version - the one without the edits to the animations. They bork out the Raiders. Additionally, V 1.2 of Tactical Reload had the same problem, 1.3 alpha seems to have addressed that. I've rolled with 1.3A for about 100 game hours, no issues. Karna5
1 hour ago, fraquar said: @Karna5 The thing is you really have to know what each mod does in your load order. If you don't you'll be flying blind.... I agree with your post and would like to add what you describe in the above excerpt is part of what concerns me about people who use collections. It's too easy for people to install a bunch of semi-integrated mods without having any understanding of what each of them does. Modding is so much safer and stable if it's done one mod at a time slowly. I mentioned I keep 600 to 1000 mods at all times in my Fallout 4, but I built that up very slowly since the game came out (roughly 9 years). Last year my hard drive crashed, and I had to re-install all my mods one at a time, and that was an incredibly hard task which took me weeks to get stable. One simply can't install 600 mods and expect them to work well together without a lot of care and time. This said, over the years I've found too many mods I find essential to my Fallout 4. I did cut around 100 or so mods out when I reinstalled my hard drive (which is why I'm back down to 627 installed mods with 307 active plugins, and I maintain a few merge files which have several hundred tiny mods combined into plugins I control myself). If I find a small mod I like, such as something with an outfit or something which does one simple task in the game, I combine it into my merge plugin and uninstall the mod to keep the number of plugins something reasonably small (like 300s instead 1000). But you're right. People need to fully understand what every single mod they use does. No exceptions.
