What is all this about realism ?

Spells - they exist ?

Even vanilla armour - Ebony, glass ? I don't think so.

Would anyone survive more than two or three swipes of a

mountain lion in fur or leather armour ?

How many hits can a person withstand from a Troll or Ogre,

or a Kodiak Bear ?

Now a punch out with a mud crab, even one 4x larger that life -

that's realistic.

 

And where is bloody Cyrodill anyway ?

I thought I was being a prude when I thought it was stupid about the bimbo mods and images displayed on the site. I'm glad someone else brought it up. I, too, do appreciate the modders work but I think there may be a little too much of not enough covering female skin.

It kinda looks stupid to have a string wrapped around a naked body labeled as armor of any kind. I mean, everything is hanging out and it would be so easy to cut her up in little pieces. What's the point?

Maybe I am thinking too realistic also.

 

I understand a lot of young/older boys playing this game and the females on their Oblivion games are the closest things they'll have for a real girlfriend for awhile but there are more and more young/older females who play also and it would be nice not having to have only 2 or 3 suits of armor to choose from because everything else is so absurd that you swear you're looking at a Fredricks of Hollywood lingerie catalogue instead of mods for a game where the women are supposed to be strong warriors protecting the world from beasts, villians and the undead. Do they really have to look like bimbos while doing so? I cannot make my character wear it. No matter how cool or pretty or cute the "outfit" is-I feel like my character would jump out of my monitor and cut my head off if I made her wear something like that.

Like I said in my earlier post. I use the wicked stuff on NPC's in town, and country Inns,

as I see Cyrodill as a reflection of my own neighbourhood where the dress code seems to be

"If you got it hang it out. If you ain't got it , hang it out anyway." ;)

 

THIS IS NOT A RANT - it's a rave. Maybe drivel.

And there were points of time in our ancient & medieval earthly history of liberal dress code.

I posted a photo on this site a year or more ago on this same topic (realism) of a Persian solder with full battle dress.

Armour on top and dangly bits hanging out on the bottom, but with protection on his shins, and sandals on his feet. Go figure....

The photo was taken from a Real piece of artefact in an archaeology magazine.

And lets not forget the 1700s check out what they wore for impractical. Whale bone corsets and boobs popping out,

wigs and high heals on men - whoa!!!!

 

I my game all the baddies keep "real" armour.

So does my character, except when she goes to sell goods.

Then armour gets too heavy so she changes into a nice comfortable

H-Cup, or maybe a guts outfit to show off "look at the muscles on you."

And if she's not in the mood to attract all that attention she may wear

a nice Kimono. :yes:

Long live fanciful realism & realistic fantasy....

btw - I played male first time so went for female this time. The difference is somewhat moot...

 

EDIT: So I guess what I am saying is - why nitpick high heals when you character can carry more gear

than they weigh, cast spells from a scroll and still swing a sword while jumping 3 meters into the air ?

I don't think anyone's complaining about the mods that are out there, but more about the mods that aren't out there.

 

Jiggle cups, etc are fine. And as is said here a million times, ' if you don't like it, don't download it'. Everyone agrees with that.

 

What the main point is that little else is being made.

 

Knightly Armoury, Ghogiels and so on offer great options that appeal to those of us who like a lot more steel and a bit less skin.

 

What is being said, I think, is that we'd love to see more of them, not less of the anime styles or sexy styles.

I'm with you on that, but that's not what several others have expressed.

I use to look for real stuff, but much of it was nothing more than retextures (yes I'm guilty of retex too)

and of course the same can be said of the sexy stuff. A lot of rehash.

 

I have all the Samuari stuff from the Akaviri Kojima mod. It's great.

That Ghogiels stuff looks pretty inventive also - crab man....

Now the Knightly Armory - That's real....I'm going to grab that next, but still, it's mostly about different helmets

and shields. Body and leg armour has to be limited in desgin varriation to remain functional in a real world sense.

Even a lot of the real deal real world stuff was largely for show, and things like jousting matches, and ceremonial events.

EDIT: What a lot of people don't realise is those knights in full steel didn't climb up on their horse under their own steam.

They had to be lifted on with a hoist, and when they got knocked of they didn't jump up ala Hollywood, pull out a mace and

whack their opponent. They stayed down until their minders could lift them.

 

I wonder if logging on with the adult only filters turned on would yield more of the authentic type armours.

 

Or maybe the powers that be could set up separate browser categories. One for fantasy/sexy and one for realistic/fantasy.

While I'm on that - Do you reckon the search engine is difficult to use ? Spell Knightly Armoury like that and you will find nothing.

Spell it Armory, and hey presto. It requires complete accuracy, even in the advanced search.
