thefourwings
Hoping someone can offer some insight on this, 'cause I've sunk about 300 hrs into this mod and it's about half done. Some time in the last month (my last backup) I did something in my mod that is now causing the game to crash. More specifically, it crashes when you try to load any saved game - whether the save was made with/without the mod, inside/outside of the mod's exclusive cell, etc. The main menu loads fine and you can access the cell with the 'coc' command no problem. You can even start a new game, but the game saves made within that new game will also cause CTD. I've been careful to create new IDs for any references I modify. My first thought was that I'd accidentally tweaked something I shouldn't have in one of the game's existing cells, but the crashes are resolved if I delete my custom cell, which seems to indicate it's something in there. Greatly appreciate any advice / troubleshooting tips, because right now my only idea is to delete custom resources one at a time in hopes of isolating what's causing the crashes. Thanks in advance,FWoFA

Thanks in advance,FWoFA well, if you generated or created a new world space there is a host of problems that could be causing that. is it a worldspace or an interior cell? thefourwings
Okay, I seem to have been wrong about part of the problem. Deleting my custom interior cell didn't stop the crashes, so it's still quite possible that the root is an unintended change to one of the game's existing cells. I have a thought on how to track down / resolve the issue, but it involves something I don't know how to do. Once you've made any change to one of the existing cells, it's easy to identify, because the GECK adds a '*' to the EditorID. What I'm wondering is whether there's any way to restore those cells to their default state - a sort of one-click way of undoing any changes you've made to the game's existing cell. Alternatively, is there an easy way I can transplant my custom cell (and its objects) to a fresh ESP? Right clicking it in the cell view doesn't give me any options to copy, export, etc. and I tried copying the render content and pasting into a new cell on a new mod, but that didn't work either. Really don't want to have to abandon this whole project - please help!
TGBlank
Learn to use fo3edit, no modder should be without. It'll help you remove records, it'll help you dissapear things without deleting them and causing a crapload of problems, it'll help you undelete the things that where causing the crapload of problems... it's godsend
jaysus
probably a faulty script... they cause most of the ctds...

Had seen it a number of times but wasn't really clear on what it offered. Will take the time to familiarize myself with it and any way it can help my modding down the road. thefourwings
probably a faulty script... they cause most of the ctds... Good to know. I'm definitely new to the scripting and at the same time, trying to do as much as I can with what little I know. That said, I tried deleting all my custom scripts and it didn't resolve the issue. If this had been the problem, that should have fixed it, right?
Interfer0
upload it, and we can try to figue out exactly what is causing the problem.
