ImportantPants
The only thing i'm interested in doing is armor and clothing conversions what with all the different bodies and different clothing between them. I may also want to add small pieces to existing meshes or changing textures after the conversion. Mainly straps, pouches, ammo belts etc. I'm looking for a clear and concise list of the programs i need to do this (preferably FREE), as well as an idiot's guide to doing these specific things. I looked around the board for a bit for topics relating to this, but i probably didn't look hard enough. So if anyone can point me in the right direction or give me some pointers, i'd really appreciate it. I'd like to be able to give something back to the modding community that has given us so much already.

Kusumura
Do you know anywhere where some templates could be found or such, Jaysus?
SickleYield
What kind of templates? If your primary interest is conversion (which indeed is a good place to start), you probably won't need to do texturing right off. THIS page has a tutorial specifically for conversions. It's for UF3, but this workflow will work for any two bodies and this will give you a good idea of the tools and process. There are links to other tuts there as well.
