JimboUK
just be happy people stopped using starforce lol... that crap really killed me a sony cd recorder...Have they? That's good news, although I've always considered SecuROM = StarForce jr. Your not alone, Starforce killed my old Sony burner.NEC DVD burner here. Never bought another StarForce protected product since, no matter how badly I wanted to play the game. Nor I have I. It also stopped me from making spur of moment purchases in game shops because I didn't want to risk ending up with a starforce infested game, so that protection meant I bought less games. jaysus
as far as i remember securom was around before starforce even... even tho i must admit that many sites state that its starforce jr as you said... ------ @skree i think the site you linked to had an example of securom not allowing the guy to install a game as his cd drive was the alleged emulation tool... but as you mentioned alc 120 im pretty sure that it is the culprit, you cant just delete it and even deleting all registry entries wont remove it completely, i made that experience when my testing period ran out back in the times when it was still legal to use this tool in my place (its prohibited now lol... a tool!! prohibited!! LOL)and alc is being recognized by many progz as "evil" and i must admit i feel with you... i cant remember how often i had to visit places like gamecopyworld and risk getting virii-infected just cause some copy protection didnt like my system setup... the interesting thing is that most of the time not the developing team made the choice to use a copy protection but usually the publisher... the same guys that force products to be rushed, wether it be EA, zenimax or whoever... thy sinners shall rot in hell :( the only valid copy protection ive seen so far are dongles... those usb stick like things you have to attach to your pc or a prog wont run... or serial numbers... anything else is just a pointless waste of energy for both the user and developer (tho i must admit that i found the monkey island system with its turntable picture show kinda funny)
fin83
 Hmm i guess i will have to admit i did use a warez version of fallout to try before i buy and i went out and bought a copy that very day I constantly have power iso or damon tools running and never had any problems with my legit version of fallout 3> The only gripe i have is random crashes but it could because of so many different things. So i am sure it is not because of drm you are having these problems maby it is because of a install issue or how you have your emulation programs set up. Hope all is well with your gaming

Skree000
what order did you guys have Dtools/alc120 installed in? Did you install Fo3 first, then dtools/alc120? thats what i did, im asssuming ... and i quote.. 'You're (im) doing it wrong!' Ima format this bish i think. its totally lame. Oh and on a more cheerful note, the studio I work at today, I asked what DRM we will be using on our next release (this halloween), and guess what, they said we are going with SecuROM. I was raging and started a big rant at work on how its bad and is killing EA etc....Turns out it wasnt our choice anyways, but our publishers. Everyone in almost every developer studio seems to agree, its the publishers that choose the DRM, us devs dont like it, but its above our heads. *sadface*I guess publishers are archaic businessmen wearing suits who only care about $$$ and dont even play games, nor do they understand the frustrations of owning legitimate cd-copying/archival tools, and trying to play games with DRM 'protecting' itself from these 'piracy tools'/grrr
overload1977
its weird i have alc120 but just use it to burn dvd and cd ect for backups when i installed fallout nothing like this happed fallout 3 works with the lunch and fomm, also i have both addons for fallout installed as well and nothing.... just uninstall both Dtools/alc120 and install fallout 3 and patchs ect see if it works then try reinstalling one of Dtools or alc120, i dont see the point of having both i used to have dtool but messed up alot of disks, got alc 120 and never had trouble with it.
