I'm Pissed Off About Those Who Rate Modder's Work

Whenever there is a rather free rating system like on Nexus, it's going to be abused.

There is no way around it, and if there isn't a real 'rating' bar anymore, people will still comment like the idiots they are.

Besides moderators 'accepting' every rating, there is no way to prevent this. A new rating system won't really help.

Completely removing negative rating isn't a good idea either, at least in my opinion - There are some mods that just aren't good, or at least acceptable. The honest user simply cannot rate these mods high.

And as long as constructive criticsm is provided along with a low rating, I personally think it's fair.

Good to see your heart is in the right place Reaper :)

And I'm still trying to figure out why the trolls rate the way they do. We could blame sheer stupidity, but that level of stupidity would stop them from from completing day-to-day life...

I've come across a fair few mods, which I've tried, and hated the content. But I still gave a 10. Why? Because the author had obviously spent a lot of time on them, and they were of really high-quality. Just they weren't too my taste.

As to what we do with trolls, I believe that they should be banned from the internet entirely - an unrealistic dream, but I can hope. Until then, I'll keep adapting Monty Python...

"We've found a troll, may we burn him?"

"We've found a troll, may we burn him?"

lmfao!!

she turned me into a newt... i got betta

mods are supposed to be rated on if they accomplished what the author set out to do.Not personal tastes, not wheter i like heavy armor, its too skimpy etc.

You are suppossed to DL it and then try it and not rate it till you do. They criteria for rateing is simple but alas some of the butt holes that find it funny to act like chilren are themselves simple as well.

I think part of a mod's rating should be how enjoyable it is, how much it adds to your gaming experience, etc. That being said, one should read the mod's description before downloading; as obviously if the modders idea of a "more realistic game" is the opposite of my idea of a "more realistic game", I'm not going to enjoy it.

true, but the rules here are as I stated, tastes vary and rateing on if it accomplishes what it says it does is really fair. opinions will always be opinion no matter what the system

The problem could be solved with private rating and comment threads. Put the link to the thread in the read me and the people too stupid to read it can't comment or rate it. You could only get the link by downloading the mod. With a system like that, people wouldn't be able to just complain because they didn't like the screenshot.

Okay... what the hell does that have to do with the thread?

Promoting your own little poll in that post isn't helping me feel sympathy for you either.

I wouldn't join the U.S Army at all. Thank you.

Keep your patriotism out of this thread, it doesn't belong here.

Edit:

Wait a minute, that is actually your signature?

You have a whole wall of text and pictures, dripping patriotism and propaganda as your sig?

No, I'm not going to comment that. It would most likely end in a warning.

I've posted an article related to something like this.

"Ratings are therefore depending on a mod's functionality. These are not used to rate low to files because it is simply not 'lore-friendly', and the moderators should be able to tell you once.

'If this mod does not please you, pass it by without comment.'

The rating system is not for you to rate something you don't like very low, and the system is not to be abused with. It's rated on functionality and performance, not your moral opinion above all others. The Nexus is not provided a platform for you to discuss that opinion.

If you choose to rate files low and give band comments directly, you could offend the author, and could risk a high chance of your comment being reported to a moderator. The only time must you rate a file low is due to it's functionality and performance.

- RATINGS 1 - 4 -

Low ratings should only be necessarily used when a file does not work properly. If it's spam, or some other virus or miscellaneous that aren't a mod for your game, you reserve every right to report the file, and rate it low I guess...

- RATINGS 7 - 10 -

Good ratings are often given if a mod works properly, and has a fair functionality. If you see a mod that works fine and you may think 'Ooooh! Nice mod!', you could probably rate it 7 - 10, which I'm pretty sure you'll do anyway.

Once again, ratings are used for functionality and performance. This site is third party. We can make whatever mods we want here. It's kinda like 'Burger King - Have it your way'. You're pretty much entitled to provide constructive criticism. If it's positive, the author could really use some help from your info. If it's negative, and critical, the author may be offended, and as I mentioned, a high chance of somebody who is bound to report you.

If you haven't read the rules yet, you should take a moment to read the Nexus guidelines now, so in the future, you don't put yourself in trouble with the moderators or Dark0ne himself.

I had to revise this note, because I've noticed quite a few comments disrupting my files since I was on here. I hope my article was helpful. Not trying to offend anyone here. Just saying it loud and clear, because I don't want other people getting in trouble for being critical."
