Purr4me
That must be the bug James told me about? it's not supposed to touch files in the data folder if the files are not in the Fomods catch.the tiny 1kzip files. you can't make mistakes. the instructions are clear. I am sorry to hear that. But now, i am sure you will remember just how important it is to stay alert. the best method to keep data you don't want removed is to move it out of the data folder before doing anything with any outside software's. BlackRampage
Actually, the reason why the latest version(s) of Fomm installs itself into a "Gemm" folder instead of simply into the Fallout 3 folder was to have it support FONV.If it would have been installed into the Fallout 3 folder like the older version of FoMM did, how was it going to be able to detect FONV?The NMM uses the same principles by the way. Anyway, if you have problems with having a self-created mod appear in you data folder, I simply recommend to download some simple mod with a single .esp. Place it in the data folder and see if it shows up. Does it show up? If it shows up in your data folder, check if it shows up in FoMM. Does it show up in FoMM? Enable it and see if it works in-game. If both the example mod's .esp and your own mod's .esp show up in FoMM but only the example mod works in-game something might simply be wrong with your own mod. For example: Are you sure you linked your interior cell to the wasteland area correctly? You could also give teleporting to your interior location a try (by using the COC command) You could also add something unrelated to your own mod and see if that does work. Like changing the ammo of a certain gun, make a certain NPC essential, etc.
NachoNinjaGnome
Yeah, that's what I get for ignoring my rule about avoiding doing much of anything until I'm completely coherent. I've just been so constrained for time and so motivated to troubleshooting this issue, I went ahead and tried to mess with things right after waking up. The only reason that the FOMM uninstaller deleted the Data folder is because it has it's own data folder and just deletes the entire folder upon during the uninstall if you have it installed directly into the main Fallout folder. So, anyways, I got everything re-installed and installed the FOMM in the file path you specified and ensured that the FOMM settings were set to the Steam version equivalent of your recommendation. No change. It is still not loading my mod, though FOMM still recognizes it. Though the mod directory is set to ...Fallout 3 goty\mods, FOMM didn't recognize the mod until I put a copy of it back into the ...Fallout 3 goty\Data folder. Is there maybe something that needs to be edited in the .xml file? -NNG Edited October 27, 2013 by NachoNinjaGnome
NachoNinjaGnome
Thanks for the suggestion Rampage, I will give it a try later today, but for now, I really must get back to my schoolwork. This break has lasted long enough. -NNG Edited October 27, 2013 by NachoNinjaGnome

Note: don't ever delete data from the game, other mods call that data and if there are too many deleted objects in abundance among a host of many mods, Eventually the game won't render; any thing. it only takes 1 item deleted for another item to call it and the game will simply not load or CTD / freeze and the data does not need to be in the same cell your in. just is that way. 10 minutes time, was fun , keep going, you need lights, and other things too. Possible an add on tunnel back to 101? who knows. kitty Black.
NachoNinjaGnome
Thank you very much Kitty. But now I have an issue trying to update the G.E.C.K. to version 1.5. The update installer says that the old file does not exist. Is it trying to install to a default path? If so, how do I change the path? I have the steam version and installed it on a different drive, so the path would not be default by any means. -NNG
NachoNinjaGnome
well, the exact wording of the error is, "Old file not found, however a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match."
Purr4me
Use of Steams sold digital distribution is something you need to take up with steam and Bethesda software people. This is where I draw the line. I own and only use Retail version of GOTY, I have two CD's in the case. What ever is done online? stays online as that is an online issue. How ever, you may need some one from steam to update the geck and the other files as the geck's update was meant for retail only versions of it, 1.00.12 engine. not the 1.7, your version will be updated so no, the geck will not update as far as I have read..that I can't help you with. medium snafu is what this is, another fail from guess who. kitty.
