Thanks for the advice, it worked perfectly.

When Avast informed me that skse was a trojan, it also provided a form to fill out reporting the false positive. I imagine they'll be seeing a lot of those.

That's implying that they are not incompetent. It might take up to six months for them to remedy this problem. And fools like me who upgraded to 2014 don't have the option to chose what to do with files, becuase those geniuses think that I am a stupid child that needs to be patronized and have its hand held.

" It isn't less legal, it is illegal (aside from any moral issue) and on the official avast support forums we couldn't condone that action.

Avast has long since taken the decision that there won't be a single click option to 'ignore' and allow it to run immediately, there is too much risk of accidental clicking of that button and allowing malware to run. That is why they took the decision that exclusion would be a manual step as it is.

I somehow doubt avast would introduce a means of making it less annoying for you to run your cracks or keygens."

Adding SKSE as an exclusion doesn't seem to work for me. Avast still moves the file back to the virus chest every time I try to launch the game. I think I might switch back to AVG. This is ridiculous.

Just follow what i posted.

Ok so ben is right, and there is a way to exclude the file with avast.

You have to open the main avast window, click antivirus tab and click on file system shield. Then click settings, then exclusions. Add the file path to your skyrim directory, and it should work. Bare in mind the skse_loader.exe will only be allowed in that folder, so when you extract it you'll have to put it in there. I'm hoping most people already have the .rar for skse from previous download, then its easy. As far as im aware, you cannot exclude individual files with avast. Thats all ive got at the moment, but it is a fix.

The shield log should show that the skse_loader.exe was blocked.

AVG kinda use 1GB of RAM, a problem for those with only 4gb of RAM systems.

I am also unable to get this workaround to...work. I figured out how to access the virus chest and restore the fies, ditto carving out an exclusion for the Skyrim directory. It still flags the skse file as a false positive. Further, when I try to run the game without skse it crashes to desktop after the Bethseda splash page. Very frustrating morning.

Edit: I can't even run skyrim after disabling Avast. Boo.

That would be what I did, hence why I said it didn't work for me. I'll just disable Avast while playing.
