kurseteller
Why are you changing the ini in the main folder? You shouldn't have two Data folders in your install. I think you are trying to do too many things and that is confusing you and causing all the mess. Just do as I explained in my 1 - 10 post and transpose C://program files/Bethesda etc for where you have installed FO3. One other thing. Are you running everything in admin mode. I know Vista has quite a few problems with allowing privileges. Search Vista problems or something similar on the forums to find the workarounds. Do I just move the whole folder back to the c/program file/Bethesda folder? I thought that you had to have in a different drive than C if you were running vista. Also I have just found out that I can run FO3 without the disk. Is that a normal thing?
phoneyLogic
Also I have just found out that I can run FO3 without the disk. Is that a normal thing?Jup, normal - without the Launcher, by running the Fallout3.exe I think Smosh is right, you just do way tooooo much. ;) The 3 steps in green are the whole thing Installation of Fallout 3: Here may be the failure, because there should not be two "data" or "data foler" folders ;)D/games/FO3/Data/data -> I yellowed the 2 possible failure causing things I think - to tidy up - you should uninstall and reinstall your game like this: 1. Uninstall Fallout32. There are two folders left: Game Dir & My Games folder -> delete or rename them to backup -> avoid using old data or *.ini files3. Clean registry (e.g. by CCleaner) & defrag your hard drive4. Reboot5. Install Fallout3 to D:\Games and avoid Patch 1.5 at the moment After install the new Path should look like this: D:\Games\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3\Data .... ========== Installation of your Mods: Compare your Data folder with the Screenshots of the Data folder here: awesome guide with coloured pictures ;)(have a look at the first 2 pics ---> the folder structure must be correctCopy the Folders Mashes and Texture into the game Data folder please don't do too much: Installation Fallout 3 ---> install Mod & check the Data Folder, use the guide I linked and ignore the *.inis or BSA Archives Everything you do more may cause problems. ========== ArchiveInvalidation: The AI can be done by different methods. Only use one of the 2 Methods! The whole AI will be done with it. Method 1: here you need the Textfile "ArchiveInvalidation.txt". You can use this:and you have to set the Fallout.ini Entry bInvalidateOlderFiles=0 to 1----> ArchiveInvalidation done! Method 2: AI Invalidated (here are 2 Versions available: "Program"/"Manual" -> only use Program)"Program" will do everything for you. -> No need to change a Fallout.ini and no need for a Textfilejust run the little tool----> ArchiveInvalidation done! if you are not sure here, don't hesitate to ask( the ArchiveInvalidation.txt file I added is only for Body Replacer )

Evarin
If you have multiple Mods/texture packs running at the same time, does 1 activation of the activation invalidator cover them all?

Smosh
Just found out what was wrong!!!!! I had one 2 many data levels for some unknown reason. thanks data all the help from everyone, I appreciate it!!!!You just found out? :whistling: You shouldn't have two Data folders in your install. Here may be the failure, because there should not be two "data" or "data foler" folders I'm glad it's all working now. For future reference you need to take things one step at a time and they need to be little baby steps. As you can see, one small error can screw up your enjoyment of Fallout 3. Happy Gaming!
