I Am That Is Matthias
Alright for now you're all in one party, but I may split you later. So far it's only Ketruch, Peregrine, and Mr.Pyro in this, as nobody else provided anything that made any sense for me to go off of. You find yourselves in the throne room of the city Watergate with about 50 other freelance adventurer's, you have been called with all of the other adventurer's within the city to help find the king's daughter, Princess Alita. One of the guard's says he saw a strange man come into the castle the night the princess was kidnapped, and that he had some sort of strange aura around him. There is a reward of 500 platnium pieces if you can resce the king's daughter. This is all the information that has been found so far and with that you are hearded out of the room back onto the street ready to search for the Princess. In the backround a shady man sneaks away and then is gone into the Shadows. mrpyromania
Ren looked around, taking in the sites and sounds of the city. He tended to stay out of these city's,but the promise of gold had lured him. Ren steped into the crowd of adventurer's,trying to find out if anyone had any information as too where the princess might have been taken. Peregrine
Uh, that's a bit of a problem. I'm off on a "vacation" with only occasional less than 56k internet access until the 30th. After that I'll post, but I can't do anything until then. Oh, and duskrider (friend of mine) signed up as well, so you've got another person. Peregrine
ooc: duskrider is a friend of mine without a forum account, so I'll be posting his actions along with mine Aseir could barely hide his laughter at the unbelievable incompetence of his new employers. A strange man wanders through the castle at night, and nobody even thinks he could be a threat? And hiring fifty adventurers, just to be sure the kidnappers can get one of their agents into the party? A curious chirp from the arrowhawk floating next to him put an end to his rant. "I wonder why they even bother," he explained, "she'll be gone in a week if they're lucky. I just hope whatever idiots they've got running this place don't die before they pay our fee." "A little confident today, are we?" the arrowhawk replied in his own language. To anyone watching, it would seem to be the meaningless noises of a pet. But to Aseir, his old friend's language was as clear as his own. The pair had made good use of that illusion over the years, and they settled into the familiar act almost without thought. Aseir waved back in the direction of the other adventurers. "You saw those fools. Not one of them could find their own back... with a map! At least the clerics are going to be making a nice profit today...." His voice cut off suddenly as he spotted a man sneaking away into the shadows. More like screaming "I have secrets" to the whole world, though I doubt any of them even noticed, he corrected himself silently. The man's pathetic attempt made his intentions almost painfully obvious. Aseir almost dismissed the whole thing without a second thought, nobody that careless could be of any interest. But around here, incompetence seemed to be pretty popular.... "Lets get him. Might put a quick end to this, if we're lucky..." he whispered to the arrowhawk, nodding slightly towards the fleeing man. He turned to follow without even waiting for a reply, trusting his friend to do his part in the intercept. Aseir slipped through the crowd in pursuit, careful to stay out of his target's line of sight. *Hide check: 15 + 13 = 28* =================================================== The arrowhawk called Duskrider in the inefficient human language did in fact know his part. He floated up into the sky, then began circling around, preparing to intercept his target from a different angle. At last, he thought as he felt the wind under his four wings, this is how it should be done. Let the humans have their earthbound castles!
I Am That Is Matthias
(Your hide check succeeds, against a d6 X 3 with a roll of 10 and a bonus of 3)As you follow the unsuspecting man he suddenly turns off into a dark alley and crouches next to a sewer grate and knocks twice. A few seconds later the grate is lifted and he slips down into the darkness.
mrpyromania
OOC: Ok,I didn't do my character sheet correctly. 1. I started with way below the starting gold to buy stuff that the DMG suggestes for my level. Matthias, can I re-buy my equipment?IC: Ren realized that his questions would be ultimatly fruitless. If anyone knew where the princess was, they would have left searching by now. His owl companion,Nighteyes glided down to Ren's shoulder from it's perch from a nearby building. Nighteyes bobbed it's head up and down 5 times, indicating that he wanted Ren to follow. The owl took of again and Ren followed it throught the crowd, recalling how he had asked Nighteyes too watch for suspicous characters. Not in words of course, but the clicks and head bobbs the two had devolped for communication during the years spent in the wilderness. The two arrived at the mouth of a alleyway, and Ren beckoned his companion to land on his shoulder before moving in. OOC: For refrence, this would be the alleyway that the shady man slipped off into.OH! And updated character sheet follows
Kethruch
Bryanna looked around and echoed her companion's thoughts. "Seems AWFULLY indicative of a systemic problem with security if there is a stranger with a strange aura in the castle who is not at least stopped and questioned by the guard." She says to no one in particular. Assuming that could not be the case, she seeks out the guard who made the report. "May your roots grow deep." She says in greeting to him, smiling and bowing slightly at the waist as she does so. "The life of a guard is hard, I know. You are responsible for the lives and well being of everyone in the castle, and you take it as a personal affront when your charge has been violated. I am here as a friend, to help, and I do not pass judgement." She takes out a piece of fruit, and offers another to the guard. "I am here to understand what you saw, but I need to know what exactly you saw." She takes a bite and swallows. "For the princess' sake, I would like you to close your eyes, and imagine yourself back where you saw the man. You say that he had a 'strange' aura about him, what was it that made it strange? Tell me what you see, maybe there's something there you didn't remember at first." She sits back and awaits any kind of response from the guard. Peregrine
This is going to be fun, Aseir thought as he walked over to the grate his target had disappeared down. The pay had better be worth the smell! With a silent prayer to Luck and Fate, he knocked twice on the grate.Well damn, Aseir thought as no reply to his knock came, I guess someone around here's taken Security 101.... Not that it would be enough, of course. Aseir pulled out his lockpicks and began studying the grate to open it himself. *Open Lock check 9 + 20 = 29**Disable Device check 10 + 15 = 25*
I Am That Is Matthias
Ketruch: The guard starts to describe "He had this sort of darknes around him and when I approcahed him it came hard to breathe. He looked like a sort of..." he turns around to see his captain coming down the street and says "You will have to go now." (you can make a bribe check here I don't know if you're familair with the rules so just a little reminder) Peregrine: You quickly open the lock and disarm the small steel spring syringe (2+1=3 open/disable device) and pull back the grate. Peregrine
With a bit of a laugh at the trap that wouldn't even have stopped a child, Aseir climbed carefully down into the sewer. His fears of attack proved to be pointless, as the general theme of incompetence continued. His prey had put absolute faith in their hidden enterance, and whoever had opened the grate had already left. Only the splashes of footsteps in the distance remained to greet him. Such a disappointing idea of hospitality, he thought as his arrowhawk friend floated down behind him. I was expecting a king's feast for my arrival! Catching the arrowhawk's attention, he pointed silently twice down the sewer to the left. Moving much more carefully than their prey, they followed after the footsteps. *Listen check success: 6 + 6 = 12 vs DC 3* *Move Silently: 13 + 14 = 27* ========================================= A bit disappointed that his carefully prepared ambush was for nothing, Duskrider floated down the sewer grate after his friend. His friend's signal made the situation clear: two targets, down there. Floating silently, unconcerned by such things as water and splashes, Duskrider followed. *Move Silently: 16 + 18 = 34*
