desade
ok it's weird but it somehow solves itself after a point. the sound doesn't play, then i click OK,and then again click Edit, and press play it plays...baffling
Astorius
Bethesda's game design approach itself is baffling by definition.
desade
lol yeah! some very strange quirks. for example nothing that isn't under the Data directory will even open in GECK...so much emphasis on directory structure
Deleted1084753User
Yeah that's normal, you have to close the properties then reopen them again to hear the sound. Same when you select a new sound for a weapon, it plays the old sound when you select it, you have to reopen again to hear your own sound. lol yeah! some very strange quirks. for example nothing that isn't under the Data directory will even open in GECK...so much emphasis on directory structure That's actually kinda normal. I don't know of any game that allows content to be read arbitrarily from any directory, though some of them 'do' allow you to define custom directories within the main game's folder (like UT2004 where you can set up mod directories with your own structure anywhere as long as its under the UT2004 folder somewhere). Also, the insistence on directory structure generally isn't needed for the engine, it's entirely to make things easier on us squishy humans who can't process gigabytes of mesh, texture, sound and other data all from one folder without getting hugely confused ;) Taking UT2004 as an example again, the packages it uses (utx, usx, uax, ukx etc. etc.) are all identical to the engine, they merely have different extensions for human comprehension. desade
haha yeah i guess it is easier to read things from clearcut directories in specified places. but it took me a while to even figure out that the directory structure was the reason for my problems!while putting in custom meshes, i was screaming at the GECK "it's a damn NIF just like all your other damn NIFs! read it already!"lol
