Kusumura
I was thinking about a certain perk for my Perk Creations mod that would automatically give the character an object once it had been taken. Would this be possible without FOSE? The second question being are the any FOSE tutorials floating around? The documentation is nice and all.. But I couldn't figure out heads from tails with it xD. Any help is appreciated, as always. (Am I doomed to being one of those people who constantly need to ask for directions as to how their arse should be wiped? XD.) TGBlank
FOSE is, so far, just a bunch of extra functions that can be used on scripts. Once you got it installed, you should change your GECK shortcut to:"E:\Games\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3\fose_loader.exe" -editor And your fallout one to: "E:\Games\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3\fose_loader.exe" Once that's done, it's just a matter of using the functions.. As for the perk -> item. Make the perk give an actor effect... the actor effect gives a base effect... the base effect is a script...the script is "effect" type, and does: ScriptName nameofyourscript begin scripteffectstartadditem youritem 1end
Kusumura
Oooh, thank you very much, TG. Again, you come to my rescue. XD. I'd ask, "Do you have MSN?," but something tells me that you don't want a whining n00b running to you every five minutes lmao. Eh, I'll figure out this modding business eventually. But for now, you'll have to be my knight in shining armor, huh? xD. Thanks again man. I appreciate it.
Cipscis
If you're looking for a basic scripting tutorial, I've written one myself. You can find a link in my signature. While it doesn't specifically cover FOSE functions, they usually work in the same way as "vanilla" functions. As time goes on I'll be writing more tutorials and reference articles and hosting them on my website, which is currently under construction, including tutorials for things like creating loops with FOSE. Kusumura
That looks very helpful indeed, Cipscis! Reading right after I finish typing... I have to point out that this is a unbelievably wonderful modding community - I've been helped by several people so far, which is something that's hard to find at most places. Thank you all for taking a few seconds here and there to help me get up onto my feet, as well as others who are learning, too! Alright.. Off to read that tutorial now.~Kusumura Mirokoshai,Lord of all Nothingness.
eezergoode
I have to agree Kusumura, I'm new to FO3 modding myself, and I have to say the members here are FAR nicer and more helpful (and friendlier) than pretty much any other modding community I've been to. I think the WORST was one I joined for Starcraft modding... I got a whole lot of RTFM responses, even when what I asked wasn't IN any manual or tutorial they had posted... The only other mod community I've ever joined that was this helpful was WAY back in the day when I was making games with the FRUA (Forgotten Realms Unlimited Adventures) and I would put them on par with the people here at teh nexus forums.
