Friends...please help...I feel defeated...or worse!

I feel like I've taken an arrow to the knee. I mean...ouch already, am I right???

 

But seriously, I just want to thank everyone for taking a moment to read. I'm really new to modding. Have some time off work so I really have dug deep! The past 4 or 5 days nothing but Vortex and Skyrim using different profiles (think I've figured out a good start to the best foundation profile to start and clone from but that I'll save for another post). Anyway, I have the modding fever and I love it!

 

Fast forward to my fourth build (profile) from scratch. So...last night around 330 am...I had just downloaded ALL the 4k-16k textures from this page on top of an already large *WORKING* collection. All the textures are from here...

Note: I mean ALL the textures on every link of that page including all their dependencies.

 

Now...I'm exhausted again from another what feels like 24 hours modding session...but...I just have to try it once. Deployed...no error messages....ran FNIS....no error messages (although it keep saying "no creature pack deployed"...one day I'll figure that bit out)....and...GO!

 

LO AND BEHOLD MY FRIENDS! It works...flawlessly.

 

And it looked so beautiful! I couldn't get over it to be honest! Damn my tiredness! I'm gonna play for at least a 4 hours! At least a few hourrrrrrzzzzzzzzzzz......

 

Yup. And just like that....my long and hard earned victory was done for the night just moments after victory. The game kept playing while I slept which was nice as I think I listened to it in my dreams. It was great. I think I fell asleep with a smile on my face and woke up with one as well.

 

But it didn't last. Keyboard in lap, game running for many hours while my damn human body demanded sleep from true exhaustion...I noticed something odd upon my awakening.

 

The screen was no longer full size. The entire game appeared to be in a window about 20-25% of my full 4k native desktop resolution. But everything still looked fine...just as it did the night before. Just in a smaller box mostly in the upper left region of my screen.

 

No problem! I'll simply exit and reload! After all, it works now! Easy peasy lemon....WHAT??!?!?!

 

All the mods are still working but...only base game vanilla textures? On everything? Weird. But no worries...now, after an arduous journey...I've finally got this :cool: Exit again.

 

Re-deploy mods. No error messages. Good. Run FSIN...no error messages...good.

 

Reload to victory! But alas...no.

 

So it still works except not a single HD texture is loading. And I've been trying to find the cure for this entire day. And I bet it is something super simple, fast, and easy to fix...if I just knew what it was!

 

There are no error messages. Nothing missing. Nothing redundant. All textures are still enabled in both the "mods" section and the "plugin" section. Still, no joy.

 

I suspect when the game changed into window mode that it messed up an .ini somewhere. There are MANY .ini files to this game so I'm not even sure which one to look at to start. But it may not be an .ini anyway. I'm a noob, remember?

 

I have already grown in love with this community, this hobby, and the memes decrying how we spend a 100 hours of modding time to hopefully get to start playing. I get it. The game *IS* the modding! I just love it. Thanks so much already for sharing this new found hobby with me. I so do appreciate it.

 

And thanks for helping me fix my "can't get a HD texture to load to save my life" problem even though they are still all enabled and there are no error messages.

 

I still have so much to learn that I would say I'm still at the "don't even know what I don't know."

 

I'll post some other basic questions I have in a separate post. My brain is saturated from days upon days of non-stop modding and learning through videos and websites so any help would be SO appreciated. I bet every one here can think back and remember this moment in the evolution of their modding experience. I just love it.

 

I typed all the above in a hope to give back as I bet the nostalgia of where I am today in this new hobby likely put a fun smile on your face :smile:

Hey there! Let's see if I can figure out what's going on. First, is the game still running in a window, or did you get that fixed? You probably hit Alt-Space while you were snoozing :D For the texture issue, right click on any of the mods that should be working but aren't - doesn't matter which one. Then, click "Create Report". A notification will come up in the top right asking you to save it or share. Click share, then copy the link and paste it here. This will tell me if the files in that mod are missing, being overwritten, or haven't been deployed for some reason. If we determine that's not the issue, we can look at other potential problems.

 

I'm on vacation now, and the forum isn't always good about notifying me for replies, so please PM me if I don't respond for a while. I'm sure there will be others to help soon, too.

Thanks for the reply GreatFalro :) Good news...I ended up fixing it quite on accident. I decided to start a fresh profile while waiting for a response and try out another Collection. After cloning the profile, I noticed the past collection was still selected. Just for giggles, I started it up knowing it wouldn't work because...literally...all I did was clone the afore referenced profile. And...lo and behold...working without a single issue. Who knows. Just for learning purposes (as I have a long way to go on learning), any idea what happened?
