DaemonGrin Posted November 3, 2013 Share Posted November 3, 2013 Ok some of you may remember the mod I was working on, the Dead Space inspired mod. I had this nice layout and was designing a hacker suit (Dead Space 2) that was looking awesome etc. Well needless to say through a series of unfortunate events I lost everything and kinda raged and hadn't been on lol. I still want to make a mod and while the PC was away I had been playing the arcade game on 360 "State of Decay" and thought to myself this would make a cool fallout mod involving hordes of ghouls, a home base you find survivors in, run around a ruined city collecting materials to modify defenses, etc. I haven't worked out all the details story wise but basically I want the courier to end up in a walled in ruined city where he encounters other people. They band together to find and secure a base they have to fortify due to the city being overrun by feral ghouls while searching for a way to escape. Through the courier's exploring to find materials he eventually stumbles upon a way out and discovers the city was an old world experiment about surviving a Zombie apocalypse and a rogue AI has been continually running the program since the bombs fell. It uses robots to round up ghouls and survivors from the wastes. The Wall is a massive facility you will not only be fighting ghouls that were attracted to the noise the courier and survivors made getting into The Wall but also the rogue AI's robots. I want to do something similar to what Wasteland Defense and RTS did but it's beyond me so currently the home base possibilities will be preset in other words the player wont be able to place anything anywhere they want too. There might be directional choices through dialogue such as place a watch tower at the north, west, south or east wall etc a pile of materials will pop there and after some time the tower will be built. I want to create a random ghoul horde spawn script and have them attack a wall or walls depending on the size of the horde. A pop up will tell the player the east wall is being assaulted heavily and a timer will start; all ghouls will have to die before the timer ends or the wall will be destroyed and they will swarm inside. If the player is out scavenging a pop up (or radio call) will warn that a ghoul horde has been spotted heading towards base. When they attack and the player is not home someone might get injured depending on who it might prevent you from building something or setting up traps for awhile. Waiting might be an option to speed up recovery but you also need food and medical supplies to help them recover which will be used up at a set percentage. If you run out while waiting it will slow recovery even more. I want to make it so you have to rely on the other survivors for certain aspects such as a carpenter to build defenses, a weapon specialist to repair gear and build turrets, etc. That's it for now all of which off the top of my head lol let me know what you think, suggestions, if you think you want to work on this with me let me know as well.
