It would add what Gopher calls IMMERSION. You would have to take the time to actually speak rather than the NPCs telepathically receiving your message at the speed of light. Every line of dialogue the player is capable of saying would need to be voiced for every race for both genders. Even if you decided only male nords could talk and everyone else's vocal cords were ripped out, it'd still be a LOT of work and a LOT of voice acting. Then there's the idea of trying to add new dialogue to the game in other mods. You'd need the player to be voiced for it to not seem too out of place. Lots of high quality mods get their dialogue voice acted. But they wouldn't be able to voice act for the player very easily because they'd need to find someone who sounded enough like whoever did the originals.
