BrotherShamus
I'm trying to convert a UNP follower (Clara Goldspirit) to BHUNP. Got 90% of the way there... meshes and textures are working except for the (I'm trying to put this as delicately as I can) interior lady parts which have no texture. I moved the DDS files from the Baka folder to her texture folder but that didn't seem to work and the BHUNP file structure is... complicated. I've asked on the BHUNP comments section but thought it couldn't ask to post here as well. Any help (preferably a link to a tutorial) would be appreciated. anjenthedog
Here's how I did for several formerly UNP NPCs (technically for followers but they are after all "NPCs" in principle) 1) do your Bodyslide work to create a BHUNP body for the NPC and send it to a dummy folder (settings, advanced, output folder). Make sure to check the Build Morph button so it generates tri files (for in game racemenu later on. Don't skip this tri-files part. you'll thank me later)Don't forget to build all three parts: body, hands, and feet. 2) if her body texture (femalebody_1.dds) has no "ladypart" bits by default, in order to retain her original texture, need to do a bit of surgery to a copy of her main body texture, by sniping the needed parts (interior and exterior) from any number of source NPC/follower mods that do This can be a bit of a pita, unless they have femalebody_etc_1.dds files that contain them. Fortunately there are mods that do have those as separate files. Check texture mods and if necessary any other UNP family follower/NPC mods you have downloaded in the past. Texture mods often have them separate in _etc files. ***You also need to do so for the msn and _s files 3) apply the sniped textures to your copied _1, _1_s, and _msn files . Use Paint dot net or similar to apply them into your texture files (You could just replace her textures with known UUNP textures or BHUNP textures that have the bits already, but I prefer to use and modify the originals as much as possible, since that's part of why I downloaded them in the first place). As well there can be minor coloration differences when simply swapping out for another texture set...so there's that too. 4) copy the original meshes into some subfolder (just so they're not destroyed) off her mesh folder5) copy the new meshes into her mesh folder6) copy the new tri files into her mesh folder7) copy the skeleton to her mesh folder (this will account for older UNP follower/NPCs that contain their own old-school skeletons)8 ) copy the modified texture files into her textures folder Afaik that should be it. Sounds a bit more complicated than it really is once you've done it a few times best wishes And if any of this is too abbreviated, lemme know and I'll try to fill in the gaps. BrotherShamus
Thank you!! I'm not sure I managed to follow your instructions exactly (the paint dot net confused me a bit) but I did understand the rest and it worked! Now I just have to figure out how to give her a high poly head and I'm all set... hahaha. Thanks again!
anjenthedog
I suggested Paint dot Net for editing the textures because a) it's basically free (technically, it's donation ware. I've been using it since it was first released and have donated about three or four times over the course) b) it natively supports the .dds formats used in Skyrim c) it's actually a pretty decent piece of software, nothing like the old MS paint. I have a subscription for photoshop, (used primarily for astronomy) but I prefer paint.Net for general image editing You could use Photoshop with an appropriate dds addon, or possibly gimp (not sure about the second) No clue on high poly. I'm still living with the older heads. I'm glad you got it sorted out. regards
