Creating a Custom Race without Skin-Problems

Very simple answer, but very useful for many of us...

So I thought it would be useful to share my findout with you.

If you create a Custom-Race in GECK, you will notice, that their Body-Skintype will remain plain white,

no matter what you do. Only the Head changes the Color the right way.

But there is a fix for it:

Your Custom-Race must be inside a Masterfile. Thats the only way, to solve this problem.

I found it easy to just duplicate & tweak races (no skin problems) even without a master

You are completely wrong on that - Player will work fine , NPCs won't. Try and see. Their bodies will stay pale white no matter what.

odd, my custom race companions seemed fine to me.

edit: could the fact that I don't mess with the racial sliders have anything to do with my differing experience?

No. I tried that: Mika the sniper, vanilla hispanic race, works fine, I plain duplicate Hispanic, assign Mika to that race - HWG, toned face, white body.

Your custom race companions either have pale faces, and it's not noticeable, or picking up race ID from a master (not nesessary from fallout.esm)
