SKSE Problems?

I unplugged for a couple of days when I heard they were going to update the game again to fix mistakes in the last update.

It looks like SKSE has a new version (1.6.640)

Can someone catch me up to speed? Did they do the skyrim update yet or is there still another one coming?

I had some strange problems with SKSE yesterday and posted in one of the Skyrim Facebook pages. I was going to post a question here after exhausting almost everything I knew to try but the problem fixed itself before I got the chance. Today someone on the facebook forum advised me to post here saying that there was some chatter on Twitter about the problem I was having - others were also having the same problem.

If there are other threads discussing this please post me a link so I can find out what's going on with SKSE (I have AE and I'm using MO2)

The Problem:

When I launched the game yesterday I got the "SKSE is not installed - 0.0.0.0" error message with all the other error messages that come with it (this mod and that mod won't work properly because there's no SKSE).

I spent most of the day trying to fix it. The first thing I tried was to reinstall SKSE but it didn't work. I came close to rolling back my Skyrim version thinking that it must be a stealthy Skyrim update but chickened out at the last minute. I moved SKSE to the bottom of the load order and tried everything else I knew to do with my limited knowledge but nothing worked.

Late in the day I was going to post here so I launched the game to get a list of all the error messages and the problem was gone. It seems to have fixed itself.

As long as it's fixed I don't care. But since others also saw the same problem I want to know what happened in case it comes back.

My only guess is Bethesda did a stealthy update then undid the update stealthy. But I have no idea how to check to see if that's what happened.

Anyway, like I said. If there are already threads discussing this can someone please post a link. It's like trying to find a needle in a needlestack.

Also, is there any setting I can use so the game tells me there's an update when it happens and let's me decide when I want to install the updrade?

theres a 5 minute fix under tech support thats super easy and simple to let you play and use mods from before the last update instead of going all the way back to 1.5.97

i spent the last few days figuring out how to fix Skyrim so that people can play their game again and use the same mods as they used before Sept.15 when the update that screwed everybody up came out. there are several work arounds but it sounds like you want something simple and easy to understand ---if my 50 year old as% can do this anybody can. ive posted it under tech support as well as in the RaceMenu comments on Nexus...there is no console commands to enter just downloading , running a patch and installing the correct SKSE version for it. if you want help to be able to play your game let me know and i will.

Thanks but that's not what I meant.

The first update came out, I updated SKSE & the Library and was waiting for about 12 mods to update so I could boot up the game to find out what other mods needed updating.

Then Bethesda said they had messed up and would have to come out with another update (Hot Fix or Hot Patch I think they called it) which would need a new SKSE update.

I was asking if the 2nd update has been done yet because I can't seem to find the file that I can right click on to find out what version I have installed right now, and I can't boot up the game to find out either.

Before I start wasting time with the updating process again and turn off my auto updates I need to know if Bethesda has released the final update yet (at least final for now)

Once I know that's been done and I have the latest SKSE & Library for it I'd be interested in looking into your process. Does that include the "functional" mods like crash logger, enb helper, engine fixes, Fuz Ro D'oh, Faster HDT-SMP, etc... or just the mods that add content?
